Since we all agree that paternity tests should be administered, I'd like to know what the most graceful way - and moment - is to broach the subject. Keep in mind if you say that you want to get one, you are saying "I don't trust that I'm the only penis who was in your vagina 9 mos. ago." While it's sensible perhaps to THINK these things, how do you say them without sounding like an insecure idiot?

And when? Early on in a marriage? At the moment of birth? How much time is there between the actual birth and the signing of the certificate to do it secretly? I really know very little about this subject.
Well, I was speaking of unwanted pregnancies in particular. If you've been trying to conceive, I think that asking for a paternity test would severely compromise your marriage and paint you as an insecure lunatic, as you mentioned.

I'd wager you could have it done in the hours after birth while the mother is in recovery. However, I wouldn't be surprised if hospitals won't do paternity tests without the mother's consent. Some states even require a wife's consent for the husband to have a vasectomy! (but of course they don't require the husband's consent for the woman to have her tubes tied)
