fwiw, when you place another person's name on your account, in my state and I think in most states, there is an automatic presumption that you intended to immediately gift the entire amount to that person. That means that you bear the burden of proving that it was not a gift of the full amount, usually that is not possible. The moral of the story is don't put anyone else's name on your bank account.
