Of all the important things that happened during our lives; of all the important people that helped shape our lives; I think credit needs to be given where it is really due. And that is to you. And to me. And to all of us. I think the true test of character was not that we looked for a way to patch things up; but that we actually dedicated ourselves to doing so.
The real shocker comes a few years down the line. Confidence doesn't fall from the sky. It doesn't come from looking at yourself in the mirror. It doesn't come from telling yourself that you are the good stuff. It didn't come from putting that number in your phone book and it didn't come when she undressed for the first time. It came when you took that risk to make things better. To make yourself better.
This site but more importantly the community it represents has given me back something I have long missed. I read a post about a oneitis and I did not get angry. I smiled. I smiled one of those pure smiles that you will only feel a couple of times in your life. Someone out there has taken the first step to making himself better. Wether he denies it or wether we accuse him of not doing so, the fact of the matter remains that he is here and he is trying to make a difference.
Which brings me to the point of this post which is to think back to the very beginning. To remember the very reason, the very day and the very moment that pushed us to take that first step. And to embrace it. All that we are, we owe that one moment.
Remember why you made that change. Remember the goal you had in mind. And now before you post the third thread about the same issue, ask yourself "Is this really what I am here for?". I don't want to read another post that speaks of your incapacity to do something. I want to know what you did wrong and how you are going to change it. And I want to see that thread updated 3 weeks later. I want you to tell me and the rest of us that you really did make that change. That you broke the bad habbit or that you got the girl. That is all we have to offer ourselves. Because there is no greater inspiration than to hear of someone else in our very same situation make it out with gain.
There is a difference between us and the rest of the world gentlemen. And that difference is the answer to one simple question:
Why do we fall?
