"The Coffee Shop Girl You Never Spoke To"

You've replayed it a hundred times. She stood three feet away, scrolling her phone. You had an opening. You composed the perfect line — after she was gone.

For all you know, she's married now. To some guy who said something. Anything.

Openers are cheap. Almost any sentence works when it's delivered within three seconds. The expensive part is the standing there, drafting and deleting, while the window quietly closes.

The "22 Rules" stripped out my hesitation. What to open with, how to keep it alive, and the one habit that costs guys more women than anything else: waiting for perfect.

Alright so the last time I tried doing something with this chick I botched it pretty good you can read all about it here:

Well low and behold I actually managed to set something up with her again tonight...it was her idea to get together...

I'll let yall know what happens manana....

"I just moved here from Florida."

That sentence contains at least five follow-up questions she WANTS you to ask. Where in Florida? What brought you here? How long have you been in the area? What do you miss? How does it compare to here?

She handed them to you on a silver platter. And you said, "Oh cool. I come here every week. I love this band. Ummm... pretty crowded tonight."

She smiled politely. Nodded. And never texted you back.

I was that guy for years. Talking too much. Listening too little. Panicking about my next sentence while she was literally feeding me the answers.

Then I found 22 rules that fixed the whole thing. Rule number one: shut up and listen. She'll tell you exactly what to say.

Here we go again....

So I call this girl up to see if things are still good to go (we were going out dancing) and of course i get the voice mail...

But then I get a text message back that reads...

"I'm stuck up in tahoe w/car issues. i don't really have service.
I'm so sorry and majorly bummed we dont get 2 hang out. There's a chane I'll be home around 11, but i doubt it"

So I replied with this

Well your missing out. I'm still going to ********. Call me when you get back, maybe I'll save a dance for ya, or we can do it on Thurs...

I really think I should just give up on this broad as she is way too flakey for me, but it still seems like she wants to get together? She's not acting like it though......

at least I'm still gonna go out and have some fun regardless...

Cheers

Update!!!

Ok so it's a no show for chickadee again....go figure...

So I go out by myself just cause I still wanted to go shake my booty...you know

So I'm walkin down the street and I have to stop and take a leak
and to my suprise I see a friend from work out on the town alone too...

hmmmmm....let me think for a second

Wingman!!!

Cool so now at least there are 2 of us instead of 2 loners...he he he...

So we hit up the other bar i was originally going to and it was dead....ha but it was still kind of early so we stuck it out....

good thing we did...

Eventually the DJ started playing some good songs and some people started filling in... I took an opportunity to bust a couple of moves on the dance floor and I was feelin alittle buzzed so I went off for a song and then met back up with my wing at the bar. While I was dancing I noticed this HB7 latina gettin her groove on with her friends. At first I paid little attention to them. But while I was at the bar one of the guys from that group comes up and tells me that the HBlatina wants to dance with me. This was just after I got done telling my wing that she was my target. Ironic huh?

Well I wait till a good song comes on and boom I'm right back on the dance floor. At first I ignored her then I turned around and there she was...

I just moved right up to her and started dancing with her.

That's all it took. After that we were grindin and kissin the rest of the night....

Later I got her name and number...haven't checked it yet though...

There were even some Parrot Bay chicks wandering around giving out ****....

I got a new visor for the start of summer...nice!!!

I guess it was a good thing that other girl got stuck else where or I probably wouldn't have met this new chick.....

I think my past knowledge is finally coming back to me again....

Sarge On!!!

"You'll Never Feel READY to Walk Over"

Next Monday you'll feel more confident. After the gym you'll feel more confident. After one more drink you'll feel more confident. After you get a better haircut, a better jacket, a better job.

You've been "getting ready" for two years.

She's standing ten feet away right now. She'll be gone in four minutes. No amount of preparation will manufacture the courage that only comes from moving your feet.

Walk over. Stumble through the first sentence. Let it be clumsy. Let it be imperfect. You will feel more alive in those ten seconds than you have all month.

Your text back to her reeks of passive-aggressiveness. The whole idea is to be a wolf in sheep's clothing - I would have told her "oh that sucks, I hope you can get help. I'll still going, so go ahead and drop by if you get back before it closes"
