"How I Made Sure No Woman Ever Friend-Zoned Me Again"

She calls you when her car breaks down. When she needs help moving. When some guy she's actually dating treats her badly.

You're the listener. The reliable one. The guy who would treat her so much better, if she'd just open her eyes.

She won't. You trained her to see you as the low-effort option — the friend who requires zero risk and zero investment. Every favor dug the hole deeper.

The "22 Rules" break the pattern. You'll stop auditioning for a role she already cast and become the man she chases instead. It starts with Rule 1.

I told my gf of five months that we needed a break.

We have good times together, she treats me right, listens to me when i tell her to, basically we have a good time together. We also go to the same school if that matters (actually, it does matter a lot especially in high school).

When i met her it was also around the same time i started seeing changes in myself from reading this site and applying it to my life. My life today was nothing like it was a year ago, and i like it.

My problem:
Im not content to settle with one gal just yet, especially with the huge strides of improvement im seeing. Actually, for the last couple of months i stopped caring about girls and improvement, just busy with school. Maybe it was fate, or some weird powers at work, but i have a bunch of date requests lined up for this holiday season. At the same time, things with my girl was getting boring and like work. Something happened this week, dumb drama in high school between me and her, and i couldnt take the pressure from the "media". Yesterday i decided just to tell her "we need a break"

more problems:
Im not sure she understands exactly what i meant. I told her we need a break, and that i will tell her when it is up. She was speechless, and she was crying and everything to her friends.
I do not want to separate completely i guess i just need a break and maybe see how the dating scene is with other girls.

I didnt want to just go out with other girls behind her back because it would be really awful if she saw me. My town is small, one time i was out with a female friend for drinks and i saw her (she didnt see me) -- just goes to show how small our town is. Another example was she wanted me to go skating with her and her friends this friday, the same day i was going to ask for a casual date with one of the other girls. It would not have been a pretty sight.

Conclusion:
At some point i want to resume the relationship. Maybe it was a bad time, holidays and all. Luckily, i called most of the shots in the past. I want to go out with these other girls for a bit. My biggest advantage in the "break" situation is that if i do see her on my date i have an excuse, like in friends "WE WERE ON A BREAK!" lol.

Do you guys think its possible? To put a relationship on hold for other chicks, and then resume it later?

Yeah i might sound like a drama king, or a male slvt. *puts on flame suit*

"I just moved here from Florida."

That sentence contains at least five follow-up questions she WANTS you to ask. Where in Florida? What brought you here? How long have you been in the area? What do you miss? How does it compare to here?

She handed them to you on a silver platter. And you said, "Oh cool. I come here every week. I love this band. Ummm... pretty crowded tonight."

She smiled politely. Nodded. And never texted you back.

I was that guy for years. Talking too much. Listening too little. Panicking about my next sentence while she was literally feeding me the answers.

Then I found 22 rules that fixed the whole thing. Rule number one: shut up and listen. She'll tell you exactly what to say.

I dont know, it sounds like you need to break it off completely. I dont see no shot of you getting back with her after going around messing with other girls.

If you saw her out with other guys, would that bother you?

Are you willing to accept that there is a possibility she will not want to get back together with you after your "break"?

If you answered no to the first question and yes to the second, then go for it.

That's probably the most intelligent thing I've heard from a guy in HS.

As for whether it's possible to continue the relationship later, you can't just picked up where you left off if you get back together. Life changes people, and you might find yourself meeting a completely different person when you run into her.

After high school is when people make a lot of changes to their lives, and it affects their attitudes on life. There's other things that could happen. She could get in another LTR, get pregnant, turn into a lesbian, anything's possible. Of course, there is always the possibility that the two of you will get back together again.

Since you're still young, you've got a lot of time to figure out what you want to do, and you've got the time to do it. Go out and enjoy your life the way you want to.

Thanks for the replies

I think this needs to be clarified: I didnt mean break it off for a long time, just a couple weeks to see what happens.

I was talking to my friend and she said what if she went out another guy what would i do. I said, in a very calmly DJ manner (hehe) her going out with another guy is not my decision, its not something i will worry about either because i decided to do this "break" thing. Obviously i didnt tell anyone in school i got dates lined up.

Giovanni - i said i wouldnt worry right? well, usually if a girl was caught cheating shes nexted, for damn sure (its a rule here ; ) in my case, we are on a break so its like a double standard that i would probably consider NOT nexting her (in the event that she does).

Again, thanks for the advice, i really like the one desdinova made (because he said i was intelligent haha). I guess it all boils down to if she'll want to come back to me after i've had my fun (with or without her knowing). If not i have other options, though i havent been out with these other psychos yet.

"Why Women Dump the Guys Who Try the Hardest"

You paid for dinner. You drove. You said "whatever you want is fine" every single time. All the effort, no expectations.

And she left anyway — probably for a guy who makes her pick up the pizza.

Painful. Also predictable. Her mind quietly concludes that anything requiring zero effort from her is worth exactly zero. You became a free sample, and free samples get taken for granted.

The 22 Rules flip the dynamic. Small shifts that get her investing effort, money, and time in you — until SHE'S the one afraid of losing YOU.
