Good for you. Change the oil like a fanatic. Do it yourself, and after most of the old oil has drained out, flush it out with about half a quart of oil. I have a truck with 250k mi that looks like it has 50k mi when examining the inside of the engine..

Also, fwiw, S10s are light and can be made to be fast. You could drop a big block in that truck and be running the quarter in 10-ish seconds right away. Trucks like yours can be very fast.
