"She Wants a Man, Not a Boy"

You asked her if she wanted to grab coffee. Then you asked if the time worked. Then you asked if the place was okay. Then you asked if she'd prefer tea.

Four questions. Four chances for her to say no. Four signals that you're terrified of making a decision.

Plan it. Pick the place. Pick the time. Tell her where to meet you. She'll either show up or she won't.

Either way, you look like a man instead of a scared little boy.

both.. it works like this, in the whichever traits are dominant in both male and female group together first.. otherwise if its male i think the mothers more dominant genes get priority for looks...while the fathers get priority for stucture.

Umm...dominant genes dont necessarily group together first. Dominant genes can come from the male of female.

you get 23 pairs chromosomes from each parent totally 46.

all 46 chromosomes are contained in your cells.

22 of these pairs are usually autosomes (chromosomes common to both male and female ) and 1 set of sex chromosomes (male are xy and female are xx)

genetic disorders occur during meiosis (cell division process ) and there are too many or too few chromosomes , missing pieces or mixed up ones.

each of the 23 pairs of chromosomes have the same genes however the sequence will be different. the specific variations possible for a single gene are called alleles.

for eye color, there may be a gene for blue allele, a brown allele and a green allele. a child might get a blue color allele from one parent while it gets a brown color allele from the other parent. the dominance relationship between the alleles determine what genes are seen and not seen.

(example A... my mother has blue eyes and so did both her parents so she had 2 blue alleles to pass to us, while my father had brown eyes and his mother had blue and his father had brown. so he was able to pass one blue and one brown allele to us.
my oldest brother got these 4 alleles and came to the world with blue eyes.
bb + Bb = bb
my second brother got these 4 alleles and came to this world blind as a fluke of toxmoplasmosis however he has the faintest blue ring around his eyes so his math would be the same as my oldest brothers.
and i came into the world with eyes that turned brown.
Bb+bb = Bb

example b: so here i have these brown eyes and my math was bb+Bb=Bb from a parent with brown eyes and a parent with blue.
i have a baby with someone who has the same brown eyes but whose parents were like mine with one brown and one blue, so his math is made up the same....
you would think Bb+Bb would = BB or Bb with a brown eyed child....
no my child has blue eyes from the recessive blue eyes of both grandmothers(bb).

because the dominance relationship of my alleles decide on what genes are seen but i still have my other genes that are not seen (recessive ) and can pass them to my children.
however if both my parents and both his parents had brown eyes,(BB+BB=BB) there would be no recessive allele's to pass on and my child's eyes would be brown.
..................................

now if you can follow that , there is a list of traits that are dominant and recessive at this website:
http://www.blinn.edu/socialscience/LDThomas/Feldman/Handouts/0203hand.htm

the only thing is, just because you display a dominant one doesn't mean you won't pass a hidden recessive trait on to a child, and just display a recessive trait doesn't mean you won't pass a dominant one on to your child.

usually you pass all the dominant features on, but the relationship between those and your partner's traits that are passed make the "dominance relationship" and determine what your child will display.

so it's kinda like, you get what you get when you get it.

now lets talk about x and y chromosomes in males.
males only have one copy of the x chromosome and all the genes on that chromosome.

so it only takes one recessive gene on that chromosome to see a recessive gene in a male. which can explain common blue eyes, colorblindness, hemophilia, and baldness. males tend to suffer from more recessive traits than females do.

but baldness isn't just a recessive gene trait.

male pattern baldness occurs when a protein coded called androgen receptor is on the x chromosome. it grabs testosterone and heads into the nucleus where the dna is. then it turns on certain genes.
men that have too many androgen receptors tend to become bald.
for now it is believed that these protein androgen receptors are passed from the mother on the x chromosome.

"I just moved here from Florida."

That sentence contains at least five follow-up questions she WANTS you to ask. Where in Florida? What brought you here? How long have you been in the area? What do you miss? How does it compare to here?

She handed them to you on a silver platter. And you said, "Oh cool. I come here every week. I love this band. Ummm... pretty crowded tonight."

She smiled politely. Nodded. And never texted you back.

I was that guy for years. Talking too much. Listening too little. Panicking about my next sentence while she was literally feeding me the answers.

Then I found 22 rules that fixed the whole thing. Rule number one: shut up and listen. She'll tell you exactly what to say.
