OCC bikes

I have heard that the Orange County Chopper builders construct inferior junk motorcycles. Supposedly Jay Leno has been at war with them after having a lot of trouble with the bike they built for him.

These guys grossed like $100 million last year--are people really this stupid for supporting them or do they genuinely build great bikes?

I think it's more to do with the media attention surrounding them, I doubt their bikes are built with performance in mind, more looking good and stylish.

If you watch the show, you realize that they are BUTCHERS!!!!

Anything goes just to meet the deadline, and squize one extra show out of it.

on almost every show, something doesn't fit. And what do they do? They take a carbide burr to it (while the part is still on the bike) If i'm gona pay 100K for a chopper, that bike better be PERFECT...

The public in general surprises the $hit out of me--they buy into anything labeled cool.

I posted several months back about how it should be easy to make $$$ considering the amount of jack a$$e$ running around blowing money and making famous people more rich-- yet i was accused of being a ruthless immoral individual.....go figure

I read a story about them in a business magazine - it's quite clear that these bikes are show pieces, not day to day riders. (Although, admittedly not to viewers of the show... nor are these bikes explicitly represented to be).
Believe me, if any high-end client felt misrepresented about what those expensive bikes were for, OCCs reputation would suffer permanent damage.

custom choppers is a new fad here in the states. Tons of these fabricators have been in the buisness for 20yrs now, only now with these TV shows are you being shown two of several very popular fabricators, with more coming out of welding every few months or so. Some bikes fromn OCC and WCC cost upwards of 250K but what we're really seeing here is simply artwork with high price tags.
