Hey guys.. This girl I've been seeing off and on again for 5 months is always a quick replier to txt messages.. This time she sent me one at 9:10 that warranted... so I replied.. No answer.. So at 10pm I sent another seeing if she got it.. no reply.

She did this before last week on Thursday. When I talked to her the next day she said she was just out late with her friends.

Which may be true, but she texts me all the time from bars.. Should I assume she's out flirting with guys or doing something more?

Oh man that was a bad decision. You shouldn't be expecting a reply, she should want to reply you. Never let the girl know you're thinking about her, make her know you have a life outside of her.

Why do you think it's a waste of time if I want something out of it?

Anyhow.. She messaged ME at 9pm.. I didn't instigate it.. In fact she always instigates.. anyway I waited 20 minutes and replied. She told me she was stuck on public transportation in the middle of the night (9pm) so I was a bit curious and concerned.. After an hour she didn't reply, so I msged asking if she got home ok.. no reply again.

People dont reply to txts all the time. The reason this got me is because its the 2nd thursday she ignored txts when she instigates them and is always a quick follower up.. seems fishy.

Of course the possibility that she left her phone at home never crossed your mind you IDIOT what did u learn from this site. You don’t text again to check if she got the message you will look desperate if I knew you id slap you across the head.

NEXT TIME USE YOUR BRAIN OR YOU WILL BE USING YOUR HAND

She didn't leave her phone at home. She had just messaged me. Moreover, I've learned a ton. I've kept her around al ong time and she even tells me that I challenge her.

But at this point I felt I had her in the bag, but this has freshly come up. I just want your guys opinions on what it means. It seems really weird and want to know if I'm overreacting.

Hmm Well.. we havent had that talk.. and I am following the Don Juan bible and not being the one to have it. We spend weekends and occasional weekdays together, and act like were together, but arent officially. So 'officially' i cant ***** (and she cant either) if were seeing others, I guess.

Still, if shes seeing other people, its an issue to me, since were having sex.

cell phones in general....

Cells, text messaging, allow women to play their little games non-stop to keep guys on strings.
Can you imagine the world today if cell phones didn't exist? If women didn't have their little ego-stroking security blankets?

Why are you messing around with text messages? Maybe she doesn't want to respond because text messages cost money (they do for me at least, $.10 to send, $.02 to receive, $.10 to receive after Aug. 1st, 2005)?

The other day, someone sent me one and I grilled them for it. If it becomes a habit for them it starts costing me lots of money, and I won't have control over that.

I wish I could block all text messages from every source, but I don't know how.

But I digress...

Why not just call her? And if she can't be bothered to get back to you, is she really worth your while? This applies to everyone, not just women. If someone doesn't call me, I notice.

i kid you not, I owned an onlinec omputer company for 3 years, the biggest computer company in our state. Can put together a PC in my sleep, but I for the life of me can't send a text message!

What's the point? Think about the irony here...

You have a PHONE. INtead of going to speed dial and SAYING what you want to in the PHONE, you TYPE ON THE FREAKING DAIL PAD what you have to say?

That's just as bad as thoose 1-800 free sex talk Text chat services!

Watch your mouth. It's clear to me that you haven't thought this through.

You're right, it's not a lot of money for one message. That's why I told them to cut it out, before they start sending a lot. But if I received a bunch, it's significantly increase my bill.

Send 20 a day ($.40) and send 5 a day ($.50) = $.90.

$.90 x 30 days/mo. = $27.00 That's a significant increase ($75 after the August rates kick in).

But that's if someone likes to use them.

If I let someone send me a bunch without doing something about it, it's like:

Receive 3 a day = $.06

$.06 x 30 = $1.80 / mo.

Still not a lot, but I'd still be pissed because I didn't decide to spend that. It's a matter of principle more than the money. Although the rates will increase; so if someone sent me three a day it'd cost me $9/mo. That's an 8% increase and I have a big plan, for others it'd be more.

Again, that isn't much, but I still don't like the fact that it's my money but I don't get to control it. At a restaurant, you can decide to order that pasta, but you cannot decide to receive a message.

Theoretically, someone could mass send 1,000 text messages a day to me (why not? Write a looping computer program.), and that'd cost $3,000/mo. (after the new rates in August, at least for me). I'd rather just use my minutes, since A) I have plenty, and B) I can also decide not to answer and not use minutes if someone calls too much.

So it's not as idiotic as you might think.

Haha. I never thought of that. I have a Palm Pilot/Phone Combo, so if I really wanted to send text messages I could literally write them in. That'd be a real b|tch to type on a KEYPAD. Especially for someone like me who never uses "31337-5p34|<" (or "elite-speak").

Seems to me that it'd just be easier to make a call to whomever you wish to speak to. It's quicker and cheaper (unless you ran out of minutes).

Ben

P.S. That last one, are you serious? I've never heard of such a thing. But somehow I'm not surprised. Our society can be pretty weird at times.

I stand corrected. I did find one company that literally offered unlimited received text messages for no cost.

But only one such company. Apparently the company I use is the most expensive out of all of them regarding text messages ($.10/msg. received after Aug. 1). I could buy a package but why bother? Since switching to a different plan in February (with the same company), I've only received one message.

I got a plan in Feb. and I'm stuck for two years (plus I had a plan with them before which didn't end then, so if I switched to another company it'd cost a lot, termination fees, you know). Plus with these damn locked phones I'll be stuck with this company for a while (my phone was so expensive, that I'm not giving it up for probably three more years).

But why would I use text messages? From what I've personally observed (doesn't mean it's true everywhere else), it seems that only pre-teen adolescents use them. No one I know uses them, at least not that I know of. Costs too much and takes too long.
