I randomly came across this website earlier - lots of good nuggets there. Have to weed through some BS, but a lot of statements bear truth. Granted the author(s) aren't as eloquent as RT, but nevertheless. Thoughts?

I'm not looking at it like that. I think there are reasons for marriage, though for me the only reason is kids. I think it's a good overall collection of thoughts regarding marriage-as-a-goal mentality and why it's hogwash.

He gets bombarded with posts promoting this site and other's like it. There was one member who had the link in his signature...I forget who it was...

How so?

I have friends that are from Poland and they say they have a preference for American girls.

From Poland as is recent immigrants? Being a recent immigrant makes you Polish. Being in the USA for 20 odd years makes you an American regardless of where you were born because that is the culture you identify with.

Now, two things

1) The Polish are very conservative and very religious. Polish girls are quite easy to lay outside Poland actually, but in Poland its another story. So if they immigrated recently, Ill agree and say that they are tough to nail and hard work.

2) If they are recent immigrants to America, they are exotic and will have an easier time with the local woman. As someone who has relocated more than a few times I can tell you right now women express high levels of interest when you are foreign simply because you are regarded as exotic.

Oh I agree. But it also comes down to market value more than it does local culture. I have no doubt the anti man culture we are bombarded with in the west plays a part, but a lot of that has more to do with her market value going through the roof when she migrates to any fatty land. And the USA, UK and Australia are fatty factories of note.

The difference is that if you go to any Eastern European country, you will notice that there is almost no obesity at all. Its not that the women have better features than American women (and multicultural societies like American ones tend to produce incredibly beautiful women) its just that the majority of them are in shape. Even an average girl with a great body is very attractive to most men in the west.

A woman in any western country that is in shape at any age, especially over 25, is going to see her market value increase simply because she is already way above average. So what would be an average woman by Eastern European standards becomes an incredibly beautiful and desirable women in a western country simply because she does not carry any lard.

Not only is there less competition from other woman, there is more competition between men. While in Poland the pool of eligible men is smaller and the amount of attractive, in shape women greater, the reverse is the situation in the USA or UK. They have a choice of so many decent men who can provide that they are spoiled for choice. The mere fact that you hold down a job, dont beat the crap out of her, dont drink like a fish and actually like to spend time with her from time to time would make you one hell of a catch in her home country. In the USA, thats practically every middle class guy out there.

I have no doubt the local man hating culture plays some part, but its more a case of their market value skyrocketing as opposed to their attitudes changing. They can be more demanding because they are in a position to be that way.

Feminism has corrupted society. But I believe the fact that the male population is the highest its ever been and that there is no current shortage of men in the west is why women have started to become the unbearable pain in the arse they have become. They have too many options.

Marriage does NOT extend a guy's life by 7 years. Nor does singlehood reduce a guys' life. It just so happens to be that women select healthy/virile guys as mates & eventual husbands. And from the less-healthy guys, a proportionally lesser amount gets snagged by women for marriage. It doesn't mean there aren't healthy/virile bachelors, nor sickly married guys. It's just that women's marriage-preferences *filter* for the guys that were healthier to begin with. This pre-selection creates that 7-year lifespan gap observed later when that generation passes away. Purely sample-selection bias.

It's like you are a Park Ranger in Kenya. You capture healthy looking chimps and put them in a cage labeled "Marriage". You then capture some sickly looking chimps and put them into a cage labeled "Bachelorhood". And then you keep them in their respective cages until they all grow old and die and record the average lifespan in each cage. The former will probably have a longer average lifespan. There was nothing magical about the "Marriage"-cage that boosted those chimps' health and lifespan. It wasn't the cage, it was who you put in it which made the difference. Those chimps were going to live longer anyway.

When think-tanks interpret the data and tell us marriage "makes us" live longer, it is wishful thinking. It is an ideologically driven statement.

story time...

the last church i attended was a few years ago.
they were a simple little baptist church on the outskirts of town.
nice and small and simple.

apparently the pastor there stopped doing weddings a decade or two ago because he felt that the church shouldn't be involved when the couple divorces. not that they wouldn't support the couple, but that they didn't want to be dragged into the middle and made to choose one of them to stay a member over the other when the couple could no longer stomach each other. the pastor was concerned with people not really being brought together by god to get married, who were wanting to get married all the time at the church. so he just stopped doing weddings long ago. the church would just advise folks to go to their local courthouse.

so now two adults, that had been raised in that church all their lives, who were really decent good hearted people that he still refers to as kids (because he watched them grow up) were wanting to get married and he made an exception. he made the exception because he really thought they would grow old together and that they could do that because they had level heads and their natures really seemed to compliment each other very well.
these two individuals had been investing trust and faith in each other since they were little kids. they full heartedly supported each other in all endeavors.

first thing he did was go to the rest of the members in the church and ask them what their thoughts were on doing a wedding. most members of the church felt that they didn't want to "feel" responsible if whatever couple got married there ended up divorced. then when he asked what if it were this particular couple, the members voted to actually perform the wedding in the church. they all felt that this would be one marriage that could survive.

so the church had yard sales and bake sales to fund raise some money. folks all donated money here and there and never mentioned what they were fund raising for. finally when they had enough money, they had a few members come in and paint and put down new flooring in the sanctuary to make it look nicer for this upcoming wedding.

now the church really was in need of having some repairs and replacing the flooring, as it was such an old country building. however, the members busted their butts to do it in time for this wedding because they wanted to make this one particular day be very special.

so one sunday right after service, the couple went and changed their clothes in the sunday room classrooms and came out and the wedding took place right then. everyone who attended church attended the wedding.
it was nice and simple.

and that was it. no more weddings. this was the only exception the church had found to perform a wedding in their church. they went back to advising folks to go to the local courthouse because with the divorce rate so extremely high this day in age, they again did not want to feel responsible for the actions of what couples do.


i told you this story to illustrate that even churches know that the divorce rate is too high and that most people end up divorced now a days. however, they also know that there is an exception to every rule. when the right set of people get together, everyone will notice. the people most important in your life (your family and friends) will notice.
if your loved ones ask you what you are doing being with someone who doesn't seem to fit with you, take heed! that is their way of saying you shouldn't be with that person, they don't want to feel responsible when it all goes sour!
however, if they are see that as a couple together, you make a shiny example of what love really is, they will find a way to tell you by their constant support.

nomarriage.com is going to tell you all the bad harsh things about marriage and when things all go down the toilet.
and this day in age, it would be stupid not to read and research what is going on in the world you live in. what happens when things go sour.

however, there are exceptions. there are good quality people in this world that are not going to do you wrong. there are people that still have morals and have faith and trust in others.

so don't get all terrified and live in a bubble. don't be so afraid of the bad things that can happen, that you fail to experience the parts of life that you want to experience. instead of only researching the bad things that come with divorce, perhaps folks could start researching and qualifying the people they are dating before it comes down to a question of getting married or not.
to me, that's the biggest issue. people getting married to someone before they had a real chance to get to know the person.

I'm a big fan of Tom Leykis. A lot of people hate him since he takes a hardliner stance with women, but the dude has been through the ringer 4 times and knows what guys face in this day and age.
