Listen I just thought of something. Me and my friends had a discussion about relationships in HS. Now we were talking and my friend brought up something. He said that you seriously can't said your in a real relationship if you can't even pickup your date. In other words he said that if you don't have a license then 1)you are not in a real relationship and 2)if you are in one then it won't last because then you guys would have to meet up everywhere and it won't be the same as picking her up with the just the two of you. An example he said: If you are seeing a girl and both of you can't drive then you will have to meet up everywhere, in other words, you guys will have to get a ride from someone else and meet up everywhere you go(dates). Where as if you have a license then you can pick her up and have some alone time with her with just the two of you. Basically I've been thinkin about this because I'm a 16 year old junior with NO LICENSE. NOT EVEN A PERMIT! Do you think it be kinda of lame have to meet up everywhere with a girl? Whereas when you can pick her up yourself. Is it possible that things can go downhill because you lack the ability to pick her up and take her places yourself? Do you think my friend was just talking dumb? I know some of you guys think this is a dumb topic but seriously, can you guys post your opinion on this topic.

its a pain to be in a relationship when you don't drive.

of course it's possible... especially at that age... it's not like they expect you to be driving yet. and yes, i know you can get your license at 16, but many people don't.

yes, it's pretty lame to be getting a ride everywhere.

i got my license right when i hit 18... it's such a pain.

Why do you need opinions on whether your situation of not driving will work or not work? Why not just see for yourself? And why are you wanting sympathy?

Not trying to be an asshole just pointing out that you could be putting your time to better use, like uhm.. I don't know, studying for your drivers license test?

Everybody had a relationship before they could drive. YES YOU CAN have a real relationship without driving. It's a bit more difficult, but it is still very possible. The relationship is based on the connection between the two of you, not the mode of transportation you might take.

When it comes down to the nitty-gritty (How to meet up, How to find time alone). There are ALWAYS solutions. I knew a couple during high school that would bike miles just to see each other because they couldn't drive.

I don't think anybody would find it LAME that two people without licenses have to get rides to meet up at places. It's normal.

...HOWEVER, you are sixteen years old, and that means in most states that you should be on your way to being a licensed driver. If the "not being able to drive" issue really bothers you, use it as motivation to practice your driving, and take the steps that you can to improve that situation. It's a commitment, and sometimes you can get lazy, but when you get to the finish, believe me: it's worth it. You'll have taken one of the biggest steps towards independence and freedom.

Plus, nothing quite beats the first time you "mess around" in the back of your own car.

High Five damian! Think of it this way : Your current non-parental radius from your house is.. at max, 1-2 miles, if you bike hard 3-4. Thats not talking about how exhausted you are about the return trip. And the time consumption. And taking a girl on a date by taking the bus - DEFFINETLY not sexy. With a car, your radius is as infinite as your wallet is deep and how much time you have. Your radius is 50 miles. And a car is a House, a car is a safe zone, You can sleep, eat, mess around, smoke, do whatever you want in your car in safety. (Relatively)

Depends were you live too, If you live in a city, its a diff story, if u live in a city without reasonable transportation, its even worseeee.. But you can have a relationship without a car 100%. As long as a man can attract a women without a ferrari by his side, then he can marry a queen without a license lol. But Ofcourse having a car will speed up your game. But dont worry about this, since your only 16 =]

Just because a woman listens to you and acts interested in what you say doesn't mean she really is. She might just be acting polite, while silently wishing that the date would hurry up and end, or that you would go away... and never come back.
