Why "Whatever You Want" Keeps You Single

She says the movie looks dumb; you suddenly agree. She tests you with a little attitude; you apologize for nothing.

You think you're being easy to get along with. She reads something else entirely: a man with no edges. Nothing to hold on to. No friction, no tension, no reason to wonder what he really thinks.

The "22 Rules" taught me to push back — playfully, calmly, without needing her approval. Strange things happened after that.

here's the situation....my ex broke up with me a month ago which i went completely NC with her....deleted her pictures, messages, etc...its been one month since the break up and 3 months since ive seen her(she left to do an internship out of state). like i said im doing great with the NC...but tonite i got invited to a mutual friends graduation party and i know for a fact shes going to be there. she even called a friend and asked if i was gonna go and that she was going whether i went or not. she left me straight out of the blue, i wasnt expecting it within a matter of a week she changed over there (internship) starting distancing herself and then my AFC qualities came out (sad i know). but now i honestly want nothing with this girl, but the fact that i havnt seen her and possibly seeing her tonite just makes me nervous... so what would my fellow DJ do in this situation? theres more bars in that area i dont have to neccesarily stay there but i do have to attend the after party which again she will be there. how do i handle this situation??

"Stop Asking Your Friends What to Text Her"

Your buddy Dave has been single for three years and thinks "hey u up" is a valid strategy. Your other buddy Mike just got dumped and told you to "just be yourself."

You showed them her text. You asked them to decode the emoji. You drafted four responses and sent the screenshot to the group chat for a vote.

She's been waiting forty minutes.

Put the phone down. Stop crowdsourcing your love life. Type something that sounds like you. Hit send. Then go do literally anything else with your evening.

First off you don't HAVE TO go to anything you don't want to attend.

The whole break up is still pretty fresh which is why I'm sure it will feel weird to see her.

Since your set on going, here's what I would do.

Right when you see her, go up to her, smile and give her a little fake hug and say hi.

Then walk away and proceed to have a rad night, meeting tons of people and genuinely having no concern about what she might be thinking.

If she tries to talk to you later in the night, don't be mean or bitter, but just keep putting it off.

In other words make her feel shiiitty by showing her your not effected by her in the least; esp since you went into chump mode towards the end of your relationship.

thats exactly what i will do...i can't base my decisions of attending certain parties or going to certain clubs just cause she's there. she broke up with me for a reason, and it is still fresh but i know that once a relationship ends theres no fixing it. it will end up the same in the long run. so what we had was nice but its just a memory now.

I'd probably just stay away. The fact that you made this thread would suggest that you'd skip this one. However, if you decide to go, do the stuff mentioned above.

If you have truly moved on, do it. If you are uncertain how it will affect you, just stay away. Protect yourself.
