Firstly i must say that i'm new to the forum and for as much as i have read it has helped me a lot.In many places i have read about the c+f technique and have applied it , but not with much success bc i lack in the 'funny' departament.Somewhere here i've also read that there is a good book on humor called "Comedy writing secrets" by Melvin Helitzer .I cant buy it on the internet bc in my country credit cards or other methods of internet payments havent been introduced yet.Also i have looked for it in the local bookstores but with no success.So i am asking for someone who has already it as an ebook or other form to lend it to me.Hope u can help me.Thanx in advance.

Spend your money on whatever you want but one comedy CD is not going to help you alot more than any other.

dont know if this will help but when friends see me with C+F they always say "you play the smart4$$ card well" im not a smart4$$ but more ****y.. dont try to focus on being a stand-up.. it wont work.. be a smartass.. not mean though.. smartass=whitty.
Read the bible man.. it will take some time but I guaruntee if you search the forums and read the bible you will learn MUCH more than you would by paying for some BS by one person.

I've read "Comedy writing secrets" by Melvin Helitzer a few times, along with some stand up comedy books... They are only good to those who wish to work at being funny (which I do).. there is no *quick* technique to be funny (if you don't have the natural talent)... There are alot of workshops, and exercises to do to develop this talent... One quick thing I will throw your way about comedy is that some people try to get laughs from making fun of themselves (Conan o'brian does it all the time), or saying something like "oohh wow, yyooouu'rreee sssoo special because of..." and try to make a funny remark... if you want to make a funny remark, make sure that you are not making it seem that they are "above" you (so to speak)... and keep your funny comments about yourself (I'm so short, blah blah.) to your friends!!!

I learned to be a smartazz by hanging around people who were smartarses. I remember getting yelled at by my parents for always coming back with comments. But my point is to hang around people who are witty or watch good standups.
Basic joke construction goes as this, there's two parts:
1) the set-up
2) the punch
The set-up is when you start telling a story, and building the audience up..
The punch is where you suprise the audience, and add something that the audience would not expect...
For examples, look at just at about every joke you've ever heard...
Comedy is all about observing your surroundings and making interesting observations... It's not an easy thing...
Stand up comics will spend hours upon hours rewording jokes so they sound just right... It's almost like writing an essay. First you brainstorm an idea, then you write down every observation you can think of... then reword, and narrow it down...
A basic stand up rule is to make the joke seem like you just made it up...
But I assume you just want to learn to be C&F, well its all about observing, and commenting on your surroundings or something that is said...
You can't just learn a set of phrases and use them. Sach situation is different. But if you happen to make a C&F remark when a girl says something to you, don't be afraid to remember it, because odds are another girl will use the same remark some other time, and you can re-use the remark...
As for examples... there are thousands of funny movies, stand-up videos to watch. But I'll give you one of the first excersices form the comedy writing secrets book..
"Take two bottles of pop and put them together. Write down everything you can think of them".... It's all about thinking about the "logically illogical"....
