Hey Guys.

I've been lurking for over a year but this is my first post. Some advice would be greatly appreciated.

My ex and i had been going out for just under a year and a half, before things went pear shaped. Everything had been perfect up too the last month. She broke up with me and just wants to be friends, as she no longer has the same feelings that she used to have for me.

She says that she doesn't want a boyfriend, and isn't looking to meet a new one any time soon. I really want to get her back, as i think she's perfect for me.

I've told her that i don't think friends will work, as i still have feelings for her.

What's the best option for me here? Is this still recoverable, or should i just try too move on?

Thanks in advance.

and personally for my experience, when a girl says its over its usually over, even if you manage to get her back it WILL not be the same

best to pick up your heart off the ground, move on, start spinning plates and become the best you for you.

forget about the chick dude, i know its hard but your fighting a lost cause my friend.

Translation: You did something AFC, got boring and predictable and your value has dropped in my eyes. However, I still want to keep you around as my emotional tissue paper until I meet my next stud.

The fact that you think she's "perfect" for you, makes me know for sure that you put her on a very, very high pedestal. Women don't like this pressure and more often than not, they will break up with you outright or just keep you around as a friend to keep idolizing them and make them feel good. You have to realize that there are thousands of other women out there that are also "perfect" for you.

It is good you told her it will not work out. You need to tell her that the breakup was a good idea and you don't want to have any contact with her again. She might try to guilt or bait you. Don't falter. Just move on.

Would you hop in and use the same bath water for a week and expect to get out on day 5 feeling as clean as day one. The only way to clean up is to drain (dump) the dirty bath water for fresh water. Stagnation.

Or, to use another analogy, the water in the fish tank is clear, until the sand at the bottom becomes agitated. The tank will not clear of mucky water until you quit stirring it. But it absolutely will settle and be clear again.

You go to her with cuts and wounds (feelings) when she doesn't have them for you (assuming she shows this with action) she will be looking for the salt shaker.
