I've been working out for a bit of a while and I have noticed that my body is getting bigger and bigger, which is nice. The thing is, i've noticed that when I flex in the mirror I can only get a glimpse of my ab muscles. As of now I have been running and lifting alittle.I am at the age of 15 and I in my honest opinion think I shouldnt do ANY HEAVY lifting, maybe sometimes but thats all.I'm wondering on some excercises to build core muscle.(EFFECTIVE ways)

You need to do lots of heavy lifting. How else are you going to build muscle?

Man, you can't do running for legs. squats build legs.

Get on a weight program (not one you make up yourself) + fix your diet + cardio = abs

Big and strong

Ps-And if he can do 290 at 15 and doesn't know how to train he is a FREAK. More than likely he is adding it up wrongly or doing an eighth press, like I see some guys do in the smyth.

I wonder.. I remember when I was younger. The popular understanding was that one shouldn't lift heavy weights, build a lot of muscle until one is done growing their full length.. as the muscle will keep the bone from fully expanding.. thus you don't grow to your max hight.

To me now I'm guessing its pretty much bs. I could look it up at the moment but I gota get ready for work.. but I wonder if thats the reason the OP doesn't want to lift heavy..

Stunted growth from lifting

I thougth it was BS.. I also looked it up and this is what I found:

Effects on Growth
Most of the scientific literature on injury refers to activities other than strength training, such as competitive weight lifting, and to age-groups other than prepubescents. Stunted growth in Japanese children who habitually carried heavy loads on their shoulders was compared with the effects of weight training.4 The study did not address other factors, such as poor nutrition, sleep deprivation, and general health conditions, all of which may affect growth.

Recent literature4,5,14 indicates that strength training will not have an adverse effect on growth. A few studies4,5 have shown positive growth effects as long as proper nutrition and age-specific physical activity guidelines were met. However, resistance training will not affect an individuals' genotypic maximum.4,5 Parents can be assured that strength training (in moderation) will not have an adverse effect on growth. Training may actually be an effective stimulus for growth and bone mineralization in children, especially for those at risk for osteopenia or osteoporosis.25

I've talked to some bodybuilders, and what you are thinking of is "spinal compression." EVERYONES spine gets compressed when going about throughout the day, so it shortens you maybe a couple of centimeters. Lifting has no effect on it, and you gain back that small amount of lost height when you sleep.

Only Marathon runners experience it to a noticeable degree, they apparantly lose about an inch or two.

Nutrition of course is a MUCH bigger factor. I wouldn't worry about weight training hurting growth at all.

Just because a woman listens to you and acts interested in what you say doesn't mean she really is. She might just be acting polite, while silently wishing that the date would hurry up and end, or that you would go away... and never come back.
