That's pretty sad. According to the news the guy had lost his job and girlfriend then went on a rampage. What's sad is that the guy killed people who had nothing to do with his problems. He wanted to be famous so he went out and took lives. What could be learned from this? Never make anyone the center of your world. People have to find something to live for, to motivate them to strive for personal greatness. And that has to come from the inside.

One of the main keys to mental health according to a psychology book I read is having a connection to something greater than yourself.

The idea behind that I suppose is that humans seem to have an inherint need to have a purpose or cause to find their life worth living.

The cause or purpose can be god if you're religious, optimizing overall health if you're a fitness fantatic, overrall self improvement if you're striving to be a DJ or whatever.

Good causes to live for in my view are those with a high degree of certainty to them, certainty that they will always be around for you to base your life around as after all if you are going to tie your identity to something it damn sure better be as unchanging as your identity is so that you never risk losing your cause and thus losing your identity along with it.

Since relationships are ultimately uncertain AFC's do a giant disservice to themselves to make women their lives purpose when it is only themselves which they can control.

If she leaves you or dies of some illness your purpose and identity are now dead or gone along with her and you'll either then do something stupid to lash out for your anger at having lost your identity or be in pain for a long time to come no longer knowing who you are.

So make your life's purpose something certain and unchanging if you must have a life's purpose to tie your identity to.

Something that depends entirely on you to nurture that will always be there for you.

You'll never risk losing yourself then.

He failed and found religion and became happier than ever.

Not saying religion is the answer for everyone just saying committing to a cause greater than oneself isn't always crap.

Chris Benoit had a wife, tons of money and a child that he loved plus worldwide respect and look what happened there.

Women and money don't always equate to happiness and lifelong fulfillment.

There was even a documentary type show I watched a few years back that featured Ron Jeremy the famous porn star.

The story went that for all the beautiful women he had available to fvck and all the money he had from his career he was still ultimately unhappy and felt more alone than just about anyone on earth.

Why?

Because he wanted a true love but could never find one.

Very true. He had also lost his job and his mother had given him the boot because he wouldn't abide by her rules. Add to that the fact that he felt that he was a burden to the family he was living with. Not making excuses for him, just pointing out how important individual, personal direction is to a person's self perception.

depends on how you got the wealth,if its handed down to you,you can never appreciate it.you wil be happy but you'll never understand it's worth until its left you for a while.
if you never really strived hard enough for something.you'll never be that happy.only way you can be happy with money and women altogether, is when you were at the bottom when you lost everything and regained it again. i know people who had great inheritance from thier parents but where never happy and were still depressed even then i wondered why? but after going through it myself i understand now., even with all the money sure they spent and had women but deep down they wanted a right..a meaning.

happiness came"now note this..came when they regained atleast some of that wealth they lost after realising that what they had..was great. they never regained wat they lost fully and sure when they lost thier wealth they were even more depressed than when they had the money..sure a rich man with problems is always better -off than a poor-man with problems..but this time around they wished they didnt take for granted what they had in the first place and became wiser to utilize this new experience too invest thier money wisely. thats when it comes to money.

when we talk women..some guy's are just like that women define who they are. and it will never change for 80% of the population..till humanity exists no more.

Religion is a good source of happiness since it's quite hard for someone to take it away from you. But things like women and money are fleeting... sometimes you have it all, sometimes you don't. Then what?

Maybe he had a point though, I mean realistically what was he gonna do with his life anyway? Boring job he doesn't like, no women and mega stress and hassle in even getting an average woman these days, lots of debt worries and payments, maintenace to his children whilst the wifey fvcks another hungry guy and has their children all of the time etc.?

I mean it's like that Korean guy in America who went on a rampage at uni. Yes it was a big tradegy and all, but what else was he supposed to do? No women, no friends, no passions, ridiculed all his life ... so exactly what does he have to live for?

I agree with Wutang, people tell you to do x, y and z instead but ultimately nature wins; our happiness is determined by whatever increases our chances of survival and reproduction. That's why we're hitting the gym, doing school, learning seduction, etc. Not for 'ourselves' as people have been fooled into thinking. I hardly doubt one would be content with money, certificates and muscles if they were to never have access to women.
