Navy training: Self made program. Advice please.

Hey guys. I'm planning on joining the Royal Australian Navy in a month (waiting another month to see if it's just a phase. If not, I'm going for it). So in the meantime, I'm gonna get in tip top shape in the likely chance I join.

This is my self-made program. Most exercises are based on military fitness requirements.

Mon/Wed/Fri:

500m freestyle
50m sidestroke
50m back scull
50m breaststroke
10m underwater (fully submerged) x3
15 minutes treadwater

Tue/Thu/Sat:

Pushups til failure x3
Sit-ups til failure x3
Dips til failure x 3
Flexed arm hang for 25 seconds x3
Pull-ups til failures x3

Each day (bar Sunday which is my only rest day) I do a 2.4 km run.

I'd just like some advice as the whether this will burn me out or do me more harm than good muscular wise ? Is there a better way to do pushups/situps etc. so I can get to higher reps quicker ?

Be sure to eat plenty if you're gonna attempt that... No one can know for sure if itll burn you out or not, and I'm always an advocate of pushing your limits.

Near the bottom of the stickied thread, there's a Navy Seals Training Program thread that you might want to take a peak at.

So, you're thinkin of joining the aussie navy? I'm heading out to university there, when I'm done I might join the australian air force. If I move back to canada afterwards I might join the air force here(dual citizen :)).

It might not be non-stop fun, but itll be an enriching experience, and you can always get out after serving out your contract... at least that's how its done over here.

What course are you doing down here ? Why do you need to come to Oz ?

That's pretty interesting, I'm a dual citizen for Britain/Australia.


As for the the routine it looks good for conditioning, I'd go over to rosstraining.com for some more tips. Strength is just as important :). And like Quik said, remember to eat a ton especially in protein.
