hey

so during a basketball game, i caught a knee blow to my quad, but i played it out and played again the day after.

after several weeks of continuous pain and loss of range of motion in my leg, i did some research and it would appear as if i have myositis ossificans.

anyone know of how long it will take to heal, or treatments, or any general information about it?

thanks all

The first thing you want to do in a sport related injury is apply the RICE method.

Rest, Ice, Compression and Elevation. Sometimes these things can be prevented just by doing that.

If it really is MO and there is bone calcification that's not good. And if you truly think you have that, I sure hope you aren't playing sports or lifting (legs) as you will further the injury.

I personally would say go get an x-ray to see if that is what it is. If it is, the dr will go from there.

Basically that term = bone growing in the muscle, and NOT a good deal.

Now surgery wont happen unless its affecting your joints or a nerve.

But go get it checked, and STAY OFF OF IT.
