"So, What Do You Do for Fun?"

She asks it casually, mid-sip. And you feel the floor open up, because the honest answer is work, gym, and a couple shows you're half-watching.

Women rarely say this out loud, but a man with a life is attractive before he says a word. The guy who spent Saturday deep-sea fishing and came back with photos and a story — he walks in already interesting.

The "22 Rules" pushed me to build a life worth talking about. Turns out the fastest way to be interesting to women is to be interested in your own life first.

My thoughts on style (...will get you prettier women)

I'm a chameleon of sorts. My personality allows me to enjoy many different styles. I'm not extreme about it...I don't look like I'm from the hood one day and Martha's Vineyard the next, but I definitely am not in any defined category...

With that said, I've learned that being a chameleon with style can be good and bad depending on your spot in life.

The most important thing about what I'm going to say could very well give you more opportunities with women....very beautiful women.

I'm from a big city. But right now I live in a small city an hour and a half away from from the big city. I've also lived in another area a few hundred miles away...

In the city, the most stylish men dress like stuff you see in GQ. In the small city, the most stylish men dress much preppier. In the area a few hundred miles away, the most stylish men dressed very casual.

Why does this matter? Because even though you may be the most stylish man in the big city, you won't be if you travel a few cities over...or even in other areas of your own city!

I can go to a bar dressed preppy and run into women who literally want nothing more than to go home with me. It's like I'm a magnet. But I can go to another bar (or hang out, grocery store, etc.) wearing the exact same thing and absolutely no woman in that place wants anything to do with me...

Why?

Because being stylish has nothing to do with stuff you see in catalogs or on TV or the internet or w.e., it all has to do with the style the girl thinks she's most attracted to.

Take someone from the Jersey Shore and put them in your average setting...they would be very out of place. But take one of us, and put us at the Jersey Shore and no girl will even notice us.

Don't you ever look at old photos of women (from like the 1920s or older) and wonder why there were no beautiful women? Or you wonder why all the "beautiful women" were fat and pale?

Well it's because what we consider in style or beautiful changes with time.

How can this help you get prettier women?

Simply change your style to fit the stereotypical image that the girl has in her mind that she's attracted to.

I know I'm not being clear but let me give you an example you'll understand.

It would be very easy for me right now to go online and find a photo of a big group of girls..say like 10-20 girls, and without really looking you would assume and think that it's a photo of 10-20 VERY BEAUTIFUL GIRLS. But when you look closer and take away the way they have all done their hair, the way they are all standing, what they're wearing, etc., they're just normal looking girls...many of which are even unattractive by your standards.

I can give you another photo where you think the girl is unattractive. But it's only because of her style....not her.

Gentlemen, there are SOOOO many beautiful girls out there that you aren't even encountering in your daily life. We all live in routines. We have the same groups of friends. Visit the same bars, etc. Maybe we never hang out with the "nerds" or the "guidos" etc. But by doing this, by sticking to one group of people that matches our ONLY style, we severely decrease our chances of meeting a beautiful woman.

When I was younger and more insecure, I needed a beautiful girl who was beautiful in her style, more than for her natural qualities... I remember meeting girls on the beach when I would be on spring break, and man would they look good in a bikini...but then when I saw them out later that day or night, I would write them off because their style didn't fit mine.

Why do I think this is such an important concept? Because there are many girls out there who think they are only attracted to marines or rednecks or guidos or gangsters.... I'm not saying we should go out wearing a costume so we can get these girls, but I am saying that when we stick to a certain style/look or, more importantly, aren't conscious about how we look in the many places we go, we are severely limiting ourselves to what's out there.

Do any of ya'll fish? If you have, you know that some fish simply will not bite on certain bait... And even more telling, most fish WILL ONLY BITE ON CERTAIN BAIT....

What does that tell you? It doesn't matter how expensive and cool looking that bait is you're using if it's not the right bait for the right fish!

Using that example to show you how important "my thoughts on style" are, think about someone who has everything together and they are smooth and suave and everything a man can and should be.... If he's from Detroit and looks like he's from Detroit and talks like it and acts like it...but happens to be in a bar in Key West...well, he's not going to attract any girl.

So, what you should get from this post is really two things.

1. Be conscious of your style AND the style that the girl is programed to consider attractive. (I know some girls who would never in a million years date a guy with shaggy hair...and I know some girls who would never in a million years date a guy who looks like a marine...)

2. Be open to a girl with a different style than you're used to labeling as attractive. I can assure you that some of the most gorgeous bodies I have ever seen on women were on girls who never dressed in tight clothes or wore make-up.

I say all this knowing one thing: Depending on how much stock you put in style, the ideas I've touched on might not matter to you if you're looking for a long term relationship simply because it might look very out of place for you to have a girl on your arm whose style is completely different than yours...think about it, you never see some nerd girl walking with some GQ dressed guy, it just doesn't fit. But naked, that girl's style has nothing to do with how you'll perceive her level of attractiveness.

Good post. I live in a big city and I dress as well as possible when I go out.

Saturday night there was a crowd of young people and I could see they were observing my outfit. I knew it wasn't their style but that they were curious. You can rarely be overdressed in the eyes of women who are dressed up. One of the men from their crowd later ordered a drink next to me and asked me if I was a lawyer, and he told me he was studying you be a lawyer and asked me for some advice on his career path and school.

Your style the only thing people can judge you on when they see you. Dressing sharp opens new doors, and it never hurts to ask the advice from people who exhibit style.

So true.

And the best part about what you said about it never hurting to ask for advice is that you know if the guy has style, he's not gonna think it's weird or gay for you to ask him about it. If a guy cares about what he's wearing, he'll be flattered that you noticed. I know I would.

I think it's one of the unfortunate things about our sex, many guys have an ego that won't let them show admiration for another male because they're afraid they'll come across as a "beta" or something...
