The title of this thread may be strange, but I truly mean what is inside of it.
Last year, and early this year, I was the ultimate chump. When I saw a pretty woman, I would tear myself apart wondering what to say to her, but now, I've learned that women are people too, and when you treat them as such (to put it crudely, the way you would treat a male friend), you get much better responses.
That poses a problem. Increasingly, I'm finding out that women are NOT male friends. They aren't as competitive, not as driven, much more materialistic, and most importantly, the hot ones are often dull or stupid. Men are programmed to be attracted to the most physically alluring women, but as a result, we are paired with the much intellectually and spiritually lacking human beings. Some of the best conversations I've had in my life were with a teammate from my debate team (HB 6.5 at best). She was brilliant, and though guys weren't all over her, and she wasn't that pretty, her personality and smarts more than made up for it. And then, the "hottest" girl in the junior class, who I took to prom (8.5 face, 9.5 body or so) turned out to be a sullen, distracted, and boring individual. She took no stand on any issue, was more concerned with what was on the radio than with what was happening in the world, and to be honest, spent more time taking care of her wardrobe than taking care of her ambitions. Whatever time she had left over, she pumped it into relatively useless things (Student Council mostly, which, in our school, is defunct).
I hope it's only HS that is like this. It's a depressing thought that the same 'hot women' we're trying to attract are freezing cold on the inside, and when a woman is dull and idiotic, what more are they good for than sex? I'm glad I've improved myself and my relationship with women, but I've found out that the most idolized ones aren't on a pedestal: if anything, they are in the dirt. Like a piece of old clay, they're fun to pick up and have fun with, but can you make a work of art with old clay?
Either way, I can't suppress the male instinct. I will continue to pursue hot women because that's what I'm programmed to do, but slowly and surely, I'm becoming more concentrated on the most important things in my life (music and money), and getting a girlfriend or getting laid have drastically taken a backburner. Maybe that is the essence of DJ. A man that is independent, with his own priorities, who seeks women not as a centerfold in his newspaper, but as a classified ad to liven up an otherwise monotonous publication. But then, what use is it bothering oneself with the classified?
