Must see approach/first date from The Departed

I was watching The Departed (again) today and came across a couple scenes that you guys should watch. The first is an approach made by Matt Damon and it's spot on. He's got a good opening, is confident, funny and establishes his alpha-male presence by holding the elevator open:

The second is of their first date. Again he's funny, confident, keeps the conversation mainly on her but still establishes and maintains control. If it showed the whole scene in context it would be better, but it's still good:

Obviously it's a movie but execution doesn't get a whole lot better than this imo.

I agree. This is one of my favorite movies and when watching these scenes, I always think, "this is the way a true PUA is supposed to act in conversation with a girl."

It's kinda funny though, because Leonardo Dicaprio acts the complete opposite of Damon in dealing with the same chick (definitley not near as smooth or PUA type), but she ends up falling for him too. Dicaprio is just real, doesn't try to impress by being too clever, witty, or anything. He is just himself.

Yeah as far as she's concerned Leo is the bad boy with the f*ck you mentality, at least for the first half of the movie. It doesn't help that she thinks he's a druggie and is poor, whereas Matt Damon is clean, rich, great apartment, etc.
I don't want to say too much more about the movie specifically for anyone who hasn't seen it, but everytime I watch these scenes I think "picture perfect execution".

Good flick. That psychologist banged Leo with no remorse. She was all about him. Definitely a classic example of a girl banging the badboy for his genetics and shacking up with the provider. Oh, how art imitates life.

When they hooked up, she was giving him sexual body language and the green light the whole time. WTF? He shows up at HER HOUSE IN THE MIDDLE OF THE NIGHT AND SHE'S OK WITH THAT?? Only a girl who wants to bang is cool with that type of shyt.. oh, and you know they did it bareback and Leo's character is IMO the father of her kid.

There are two scenes that tell of Matt Damon's character's impotence or lack of sex drive: 1. She tries to talk with him in the morning about "how it happens to alot of men and it's very common". He says he's late for work and he gets up and leaves. 2. He's talking with his boss about how his dyck is 'working overtime'. His boss was says sarcastically, "I'm very glad to hear that".

The part that really solidified Leo as the father for me was the scene where Leo goes to her apartment to hand her the audio tapes and she says she needs to tell him something. Leo tells her that it can wait. A few scenes later, she shows Matt Damon's character the baby sonograms. Scandalous, but so common.

Watch it again and look for those signs and ask yourself who be her baby daddy.

The Matt Damon approach is really that good? He's qualifying himself to her BIG time, using profanity, and showing signs of desperation...

Given that he got her number in the time span of a short elevator ride I'd say he did pretty good. She was walking away and he knew that was it unless he stopped her so he threw in "I'm one more up". From there he ended up getting the number.
Yeah he used profanity but it sounded natural and was funny so I don't see a problem with it. He went with his gut and didn't try to turn it into a chemistry experiment which is why he was successful.

awseome movie and awseome examples...

Matt Damon used c&f like he was david deangelos son in both those scenees.

Leo used his alpha male I dont give a **** attitude and actually neg hitted her (though extreme) in that scene in her office. While not conscious she saw he wasn't someone easily tamed and was an ideal challenge.

This obviously built up her attraction.

Yeah I think she fell for Leo in the end because Damon's approach wasn't all that good. But in the second video that the original poster showed, Damon does alot better, especially when he said that he didn't want to see her again, and she looked all shocked. Girls like spontaneity like that, but Damon didn't come across as alpha male at all to her, so thats why she bangs Leo in the end.

she bangs leo cuz matt damon obviously has some problems in bed. his approach, attitude during 1st date was flawless, he just couldn't seal the deal in the bedroom
