I saw this before meeting up with my brother for lunch and mentioned it to him how good I thought this was.

He told me he bought it a long time ago.

Then we started reminiscing about his football playing days and also my Dad's football playing days.

So heartwarming to see my brother get so excited about football again. He was a really good player, always on the field and from the home movies shot by my grandfather, my Dad was also a really good player.

Was thinking of trying to find a way to watch the game today without going to a restaurant. Somehow on my cellphone.

Great movie with a lot of positive themes. Brotherhood, family, and bonding over sport and across racial lines. Overcoming adversity as a unit. Honor and integrity. Even seeing a friendship and two paths among daughters. Classic movie.

To-date in my life, football is the only thing that has truly made any progression in reconciling racial differences. Every American racial stereotype plays out there, but at the end of the day, you have to earn your respect and in the end, play together. There's no shortcuts.
While RTT was a goofy movie IMO, it does touch on a little bit of what goes on on a high school football team.

I went to a majority black high school and played football as one of 4 white guys on the team. The only black guys from my high school I still keep in touch with are guys that played. Same thing in college, that was one of the common bonds for people of all races.

And now so many on the left want to get rid of football for the dumbest reasons. The journalists are the worst, they've never played and just have an anger towards the world. It's masculine and actually HELPS things, so obviously we have to point out all the (very few) flaws in it, and try to get it cancelled because reasons. And the biggest problem is that they've convinced so many former players that they need to contribute to its demise.

I hate people.

What happens, IN HER MIND, is that she comes to see you as WORTHLESS simply because she hasn't had to INVEST anything in you in order to get you or to keep you.

You were an interesting diversion while she had nothing else to do. But now that someone a little more valuable has come along, someone who expects her to treat him very well, she'll have no problem at all dropping you or demoting you to lowly "friendship" status.

awww, don't give up on people just yet. That's something that you played as a minority white. You probably had a lot of fun playing through high school and college.
Awesome you still keep in touch with your teammates.
You're right that football is masculine and helps things and has no flaws.
I hadn't heard that media has been picking on football players.
I remember hearing talk about funding cuts from politicians back east 30 years ago.
Hopefully, schools still fund and staff sports teams.

And did you get selfrighteous feeling when the one roommate insisted to the captain that "attitude reflects leadership" and then we see that moment on the field where those two bond over a good play?
That warm team spirit feeling from that intro dance/warmup and several moments where each coach stuck to his integrity and determination to do the next right thing?
Man, I'm telling you I could feeeel the masculinity jump through the screen at me.
