Mosquito's Eating Me Alive

I just moved back to the Philippines from California, and the day I got back the mosquito's love me! I mean, I can attract girls but it seems like I'm attracting mosquito's as well.

I have tried using baking soda as a paste and it helped the swelling go down. How can I keep the mosuito's away from me at night? I'll go buy some repellant next week when I go to the store, but in the mean time I need an alternative!

We're only renting the house.. I think the owner would have problems with me driving nails through the walls to hang up a net..

nets aren't heavy at all... you could use a staple gun or thumb tacks even...


Tonga's the same way... tropical weather is horrible...

There are some sprays:
-that you can put on your skin and mosquito's wont bite
-that you can spray around in the room wait 15 minutes until it kills them all, then you can go to sleep

Also there is this kind of tablet you can put on a light bulb, or in a special made thing that heats it up and the smell kills all mosquito's (this it what I use during summer), it smells better than the spray for rooms.

Dont know about other methods, youll just have to go to the store and buy them

I just bought some "OFF!" classic repellant.. I hope that keeps them away! I thought to myself... I can't stand another night of being bit in the fingers, arms, etc! They bit me a couple times on my forehead so it looks like zits.. lol

Thanks for the input guys! Haha, mosquito bites on the face can affect your game/self confidence...

I'll let you all know how the repellant works out.. I don't wanna put it all over my face.. just in certain areas so they smell it and leave me alone.

Muskol! The stuff smells horrid, but it keeps them away better than Off.

I'm guessing the place you're staying in doesn't have screens on the windows and no air conditioning.

Didn't you know that neons attract mosquitos? Change your name and they will all go away

Seriously now, OFF really stinks but i tried it a few times and it helps. Take a shower before going on a date after using OFF , because it kinda smells like a cheap, awful perfume and your date might think the same of you when in reality you are such a great guy and all... not that i know u personally..

Haha, nah no worries man.. I used OFF last night and the little buggers didn't suck any of my precious blood. I'm just using it before bed so they leave me alone... And I shower twice a day. Once when I get up and once before I go to bed... I wish I used OFF earlier so I wouldn't have these annoying bites on me... The price you gotta pay when you live in a tropical country, huh!

fwiw, in case you run across them, the "ultra-sonic" battery-powered mosquito repellers did not work for me. I think they are a scam.

That stuff is crazy awesome. If you get the little green bottles of lotion, it is 100% Deet! You really gotta be careful to keep it out of your eyes and off your lips... and careful around plastic! That stuff will melt plastic watch crystals!

I'm telling you - get some. Go online and find some - nothing will bite through it. I've been exposed to some ROWDY mosquitoes before, a little Muskol - boom - gone. That OFF crap is worthless, go with something that has high Deet content - the higher the better. OFF is like an attractant compared to Muskol.

lol, they haven't bothered me after a couple dabs of OFF. So I think I'll stick to it. But if ever I go out to the jungle or whatever, where there is sure to be a vast amount of mosquito's, then I'll be sure to try and pick up some Muskol.

The reason I wanted to really get rid of these mosquito's is they kept biting my face and it looks lize zits, and it itches like hell which could possibly lead to scarring. Things here in the Philippines tend to get infected very easily because of the climate. So even a little scratch, go get the Neosporin!

You could always walk around all day with a fencing helmet on, that'll keep the bloodsuckers away! :box:

Haha, no problems with them bothering me during the day. Just at night. So screw the fencing helmet. lol
