Mosley Vs Vargas (boxing)

Im back for some 2006 boxing predictions.

This thread is for predictions of the already made and possible future matchups of which are likely to occur, and reasons for picking each fighter. 2006 will be a golden year for boxing.

Vargas V Mosley. Mosley by late stoppage. The fight will turn into an alley fight, with Vargas not as strong as he anticipates. Mosley taking his punches rather easily and giving back a lot more. Too much stanima, faster and better whiskers give Mosley the late stoppage in this fight. TKO 11 for Sugar Shane.

DLH V Mayorga. Mayorga is a wild man, and only beating an overrated boxer such as Forrest gave him his initial credibility. He will be a lot stronger than DLH giving him a bit of a chance in the fight, but DLH with the far superior boxing skills will hit Mayorga with everything but the kitchen sink, winning a clear UD. DLH 116-112.

Mayweather V Judah. Both fast, Judah having the edge in power. But judah is very impatent and gets nervous in big fights. Judah will start throwing some big powerful, and lightening fast punches and combinations, however Mayweather will soak them up and dish out a clean, mean beating. Hitting Judah with some straight rights that will find him and put him on the seat of his pants. Mayweather will apply the pressure and let his strength take over, pressing Judah and stopping him late in the fight, however, not with Mayweather escaping unscathed, expend Judah to buzz Mayweather once or twice during the fight. Mayweather by TKO 11.

Coralles V Castillo. I always felt that Castillo was the superior boxer. Coralles has a LOT of heart, and some HUGE punching power. But that will not be enough to stop the constant onslaught of Castillo. Both will take some huge punches, however, unlike fight one, Coralles will not win the fight by the skin of his teeth. Castillo will stop him in the late rounds. Castillo will not however, cheat this time by not even attempting to make weight, and will not have a chance of anothing one punch KO. Castillo TKO 10.

Tarver V BHOP. What can I say, I have maintained BHOP is past it for a long long time now. He is only getting older, and nobody can beat mother time! Tarver is a LOT bigger naturally and hits a lot harder. Not to mention, with a huge height advantage, and speed advantage, will reach BHOP relatively easy compared to his middleweight career thus far. Tarver will be the first man to stop, and finish his boxing career for good. Tarver KO 9.

Toney V Rahman. Rahman is a typical heavyweight slob these days. Toney will roll with his punches and avoid his big shots. Toney will take him to school and put him through a boxing clinic. Rahman will finally learn the art of boxing off a much smaller man. Toney by easily decision. Toney UD, 117-113.

Winky V Taylor. Taylor is still too green and will not be able to peirce the defence of Winky consistantly throughout the fight. Winky will pressure him and land some decent shots. Leading to a close but deserving UD for Winky. Winky 117-115.

Forrest V Quartey. Quartey is washed up and cant box too well anymore. He has a solid chin, but has looked shaky at times. Forrest, with his huge height advantage will land a straight right to stun Quartey, and will be the first man to stop him. Forrest KO 7.

Vargas is still my favorite fighter to watch--he's a firecracker, but I know Mosley's a better fighter. I'm rooting for Vargas but realize it's unlikely.

DLH/Mayorga:

I'll go with Mayorga, only if the fight lasts less than 7 rounds. He's just such an oddball it's hard for fighters to keep up with him, unless you tire him out.

Mayweather/Judah:

Mayweather in a long fight. Judah just doesn't have the power to bring a guy like Mayweather down, despite his speed, and I know Mayweather can hang in a fight like this.

Coralles/Castillo:

My thoughts exactly in that first post.

Tarver/BHOP:

BHOP is an old old man. Tarver is an incredible fighter, BHOP is gonna get knocked around and out in 8.


For lack of boxing knowledge about a couple of the fighters in those (everyone but winky and taylor I don't really know) so I won't post anything.

Good to see a boxing fan on the board.

tough one to call with Vargas and Mosley. Niether fighters appear to be what they once were IMHO. Vargas has a weak chin, but Mosley doesn't hit hard. Ya know, I'm going to be in the minority here, but I say Vargas takes him. Vargas is younger, hits harder and I think hungrier. It will either be by Majority decision or TKO


DLH VS Mayorga

This is a very dangerous fight for Oscar, he has everything to lose and little to gain. Mayorga will have to be destroyed in order to stop coming forward. I'll take Oscar, TKO 10


Mayweather beats Judah. I dont think this fight should even take place since Judah lost to Baldomir. Still Mayweather is tougher and has just as fast hands as Zab.

Castillo vs Corrales

I am going to take Corrales here is why. Chico has a great trainer who has him adapt well after losses. I tihnk his strategy will be different and will actually box Castillo more rather than stand toe to toe all night and brawl. When Corrales boxes he is great as he has shown against Freitas and Cassamayor. Corrales by majority decision.

Tarver vs BHOP. BHOP by KO 11 styles make fights



Toney vs Rahman. I will have to agree with Clooney here although I would love nothing more than to see James Toney get knocked out so he can shut the **** up. I hope Rahman does it but I feel Toney is a superior boxer and will give him fits. Toney majority decision. I hope Im wrong!

Winky vs Taylor.

I am going with Jermain here. Winky is a great boxer with great defense, however he doesn't have the power to finish off a guy like JT. If Jermain presses him like Vargas did, he should win a close decision.


Quartey vs Forrest.

Quartey by KO. I actually thought Ike looked pretty good in his last showing.

Well there is the first of my picks correct. Mosley stopped Vargas late.

I will also change a couple of the other picks I made after further reflection:

I think the DLH V Mayo fight will be closer, still DLH by UD, but by scores around 115-113.

I will also take Taylor over Winky. Winky fights well at guys who come at him, like Mosley and Tito needed to do because they could not do any damage to him as they were naturally smaller guys. Taylor is bigger than Winky and will be just as strong, he will not need to throw as much into his punches to peirce Winky and his right could shake Winky up. Winky likes guys to come to him and then he can pick them apart with this jab. A guy who is just as big, or bigger, and who does not walk into Winkys punches, will give him fits. Taylor 115-113.
