To explain my ptoblem, a short story of myself.

I'm 25, have to study another three years and have about 5000 euros of savings. In those three years my only income will be of student jobs which would bring in 5000 euros a year (legally), I will be looking for some (illegal) work next year. Bear in mind that with illegal I don't mean drugs, but as not declaring it so not to pay taxes on it.

In those three years I have to pay my education and food, drinks,... And I have a quite expensive hobby. So from those 5000 euros, not much will be saved.

The problem is: like many people I want to move abroad, but I want to move to a tropic island. Moving to a foreign country isn't cheap, let alone to a tropic place. As a sidenote, this isn't just a craving, I feel alive in high
temperatures, sunlight and tropical flowers, trees, atmosphere,... It's a dream that really makes me happy just thinking about it.
I will only be starting to make decent money at the age of 28 and even then it won't be that much.

Should I give up my expensive hobby, even though it's a huge part of my life and a big source of hapiness, in order to save more money now to make my dream come true. Or if I really really want it, moving abroad in 10-20 years will make itself come true?

Find cheaper hobbies, expensive hobbies are for rich people... you ain't rich.

If you move abroad, you should know how to live out of a backpack for your first year, especially if you only have 5000 euro to your name. Its not easy and the only employment you will ever have will be to teach English, so get on that ASAP. Remember also that when its hot in the tropics its really really hot, and you won't be living with A/C. Also there are other things like centipedes, ****roaches and spiders you may have to live with from time to time. Finally, you won't have any access to quality healthcare and if you get hurt or sick, you're 5000 euros will go in a flash. You need to come all your bases before you leave because there will be no one to catch you if you fall. If you do something illegally, you could quickly find yourself staring out of a tropical jail cell for 10 to 20 years. Plan, think, network and find a job BEFORE you come.

I understand your thinking, but I skydive and although it isn't cheap and perhaps for the more richer people, I can't quit (therefore it's a hobby) and I don't see another one which could give me the same pleasure.

This year for example I can't save a dime... I'm still studying, so major income is not possible.

Moving abroad is actually possible, even though you don't have much money?
