Moms fell down stairs, need quick advice!

My mom fell down the stairs last night, she is in a lot of pain in her mid-upper left back. Maybe 7 hours have passed, and there isn't any bruising, and I felt around for anything broken, but everything looks and feels ok. But she is in severe pain. I have her sleeping with a heat pad on her back, and some xtra strength painkillers with sleep medicine, so hopefully that will help.

But my question is, could I be missing something? If there was internal bleeding or anything like that, wouldn't there be some outside bruising?

I would for sure take her to the hospital. Ya never know she could have kidney bruising, which means she had bleeding there.

Trust me you'll feel better if you do.

My mother hates hospitals. But of course that is what will be happening if she isn't feeling any better when she wakes up. Also, I mean emergency room treatment is really expensive, she won't be down for that if it isn't truly necessary.

However the kidney bleeding thing... that is scary to think. Wouldn't there be bruising on the outside, though? Now I am about to freak out...

And I know nobody here is an expert, but i've actually gotten decent "medical" advice here before.

I just "consulted" her, and told her that she may be bleeding internally (mentioned kidneys), and might die, say, SOON. And that she should indeed visit the ER as soon as possible.

She said "I fell on my BACK. My kidneys aren't in my back."

She then told me to go away so she could sleep, and to "consult" again later.

Well, thanks for the advice so far, and I will let you know how it worked out in the end.

And before anyone can say it, Yes, I will MAKE her go if I have to, and her sympoms don't get better soon.

Dude, the right thing to do is to rely on science and use DOCTORS who have been trained for several years in healing.

Take your mother to the hospital and get her Xray of her back/hip region. Expensive? Can you put a price on your mother's life. She isn't worth a few thousand dollars? How much is she worth? Few hundred? You bastard, your parents gave you life and you don't even know how to take them to the damn hospital. End yourself you piece of sh1t.

Hell, my dad often refuses to get a checkup, he's around 50, trying to act macho. "I'm fine" he says. But I'm 19, I say, "ok" and drag his ass to get a check up twice a year. I don't want to lose my parents to something health related that could have been caught early. This gives me peace of mind and helps my parents at the same time.

There is a reason why there is a HEALTHCARE CRISIS in this country, and believe it or not, it really does affect aLOT of people's decisions regarding their own health and even their life. Sad but true. My mother is one of those people who will not go to the hospital to save her life... literally. I do what I can.

Anyways, she is on her merry little way to the hospital. I think I scared some sense into her. And the pain she is in is on my side.
