Back to the topic; I've had to deal with this issue when I was running a BBS. My choice was to either turn on the censor, delete any slightly offending posts and files, or make it an 18 or over BBS. I chose the ladder.

My guess is that Allen wants to keep this wealth of information open to all ages without getting in trouble legally.

There was a thread just like this in the Suggestions/Feedback forum but it got deleted. Apparently the censor thing has nothing to do with filters or search engines. In that thread Allen himself said that its purpose is a secret that no one has guessed at.

Haha...I think the reason the filter is up is due to the version of VBulletin that Allen is using and it might have a built in filter that can't be deleted.
