"She Liked You in March. It's October Now."

Attraction runs on a clock.

She flirted for weeks. Touched your arm. Found reasons to be alone with you. And you were careful. Respectful. Waiting for the right moment.

The moment had a shelf life. It expired around month two, and by the time you asked her out, she'd quietly filed you under "little brother."

One of the hardest lessons inside the 22 Rules: women rarely wait. Interest either grows or it decays, and nothing decays it faster than a man who never moves.

Make the move while she's still inventing reasons to be near you.

OK, I know most of you guys feel giving gifts on the 1st date is a bad idea but technically this more of a gag gift.

1st some background. Last week I had a date with a girl that has been after me for sometime now. Well earlier on in the day before the date she went out and when she tried to get back home, she got lost and then stuck in traffic and ended up having to cancel our date, but only after postponing the date time several times. So it seems she canceled only as a last resort. She said she really wants to go out and asked me when I'm free again, but I still have yet to set anything up again.

So me and some friends were thinking whenever I do go out with her it might be funny to give sort of a gag gift consisting of a map and compass, what I'll do is highlight the best route she should have taken from where she was at and then tell her this is so you don't have to cancel our dates any more by getting lost. but on top of that I was going to burn a CD consisting of MY favorite songs and tell her this is for good entertainment when shes stuck in traffic.

What my goal of doing this is, is to get a laugh and show a little bit of originality and thought, she'll also learn more about me, like what type of music I like and also whenever she hears one of those songs it will get her thinking of me. but I'm not so sure if it will go off to well, it could crash and burn badly or put me ahead.

Do you guys think this is uber gay or stinks of AFCness?

"Why Women Dump the Guys Who Try the Hardest"

You paid for dinner. You drove. You said "whatever you want is fine" every single time. All the effort, no expectations.

And she left anyway — probably for a guy who makes her pick up the pizza.

Painful. Also predictable. Her mind quietly concludes that anything requiring zero effort from her is worth exactly zero. You became a free sample, and free samples get taken for granted.

The 22 Rules flip the dynamic. Small shifts that get her investing effort, money, and time in you — until SHE'S the one afraid of losing YOU.

Yes. Awesome idea, bad resorts. This is what you do:

1. Get a napkin, and a pen.
2. Draw one dot in the middle, and one a bit to the right (about an inch)
3. Label the first dot (Your house)
4. Label the second dot (Our meeting place)
5. Draw a line between the two points
6. Below the dots, write "Departure time: Before it's too late." Then on the next line write "Arrival time: Too late, you'll have to cancel!"
7. Then write on the left of the dots the approx distance of the two points.
8. Label it something C/F: "The Simple Route" by <her name>

Eh.. right idea, but overdone. No CD, no compass, no highlighting, no explaining -- those reek of too much effort to try to be funny.

Just hand her the map at the right point, she'll get the idea, you'll get the "OMG yellowspeed ur so mean!!" along with the playful punch, and good times.

Renegade's (with 3s for Es) idea is another option, but only if you do it out on the date with her.. otherwise, too contrived.

"How I Made Sure No Woman Ever Friend-Zoned Me Again"

She calls you when her car breaks down. When she needs help moving. When some guy she's actually dating treats her badly.

You're the listener. The reliable one. The guy who would treat her so much better, if she'd just open her eyes.

She won't. You trained her to see you as the low-effort option — the friend who requires zero risk and zero investment. Every favor dug the hole deeper.

The "22 Rules" break the pattern. You'll stop auditioning for a role she already cast and become the man she chases instead. It starts with Rule 1.

The map could be kinda funny depending how you did it...

Everything is no good.

I was expecting to have to flame you, but that's not a grave mistake... but make it known that cancelling dates is unnacceptable behavior.

I'd have to agree with what's already being said.

First off, listen to what the excuse was that she gave you for having to cancel. "I was trying to get home but got lost". Sorry, but perhaps I'm a step ahead of the rest of the world - but I've NEVER gotten lost trying to get back home, and I'm 21 years old. Even DOGS can find their way back to where they live.

If and when you see her again, please don't do the map with the best route highlighted - it shows you have nothing better to do than sit around and think of things like that - same with the mix CD. While you may think that when she puts it on a song she'll think of you, who's to say she's not just going to throw it away first chance she gets? This isn't said to be mean to you or slight you in any way, but it looks to me like the girl has already shown a lack of interest by making up a phony reason to cancel on you. If you do go on a date with her next time, sure, give her a few neg-hits regarding her previous idiocy, but don't do the things actually showing you went out of your way to do something for her..

Anyway, let me know how it turns out.

The right frame of mind here is - do it and not worry about it too much. She may think it's sweet and tell all her friends how cute you are, or she could just kind of pause when you give it to her, give you a funny look and there may be an awkward moment or two where she utters the words, "uhh... thanks..."

Either way man, who gives a sh!t this is just one girl and if you fvck up here it's not the end of the world...

On a second date I had once with an old GF I bought her some golf tees and gave them to her because on our first date she told me that she loved playing golf, and i kind of made a big deal out of how cool it was for a girl to be playing golf. She loved it and thought it was real sweet, so I think you may have an OK idea here...

A universe...where heartbreak and sadness have bee
Dude...if she wanted to cancel it she would've cancelled it outright, not postponed it several times. It wouldn't be unreasonable for her to make up something like, "I'm running late and I won't get home in time. Let's do it another night." But if she's repeatedly calling and apologizing and suggesting moving the time back, then chances are she's legit.

BTW...YOU should've cancelled the date after the second or third call...just say it didn't work out and suggest another night.

It's OK to allude to that next time you make plans ("this time, plan your escape route ahead of time"), but I don't think there's any need for you to go to lengths to humiliate her for screwing up, especially since the two of you have never gone out before. I don't know if you have that kind of rapport with her.

If you're going to be "such an as5h0le", that's great. Don't go too far and be a REAL as5h0le, though. :p

Its overkill.....Make a few c/f comments during the date...but leave the rest alone...

"She Wants a Man, Not a Boy"

You asked her if she wanted to grab coffee. Then you asked if the time worked. Then you asked if the place was okay. Then you asked if she'd prefer tea.

Four questions. Four chances for her to say no. Four signals that you're terrified of making a decision.

Plan it. Pick the place. Pick the time. Tell her where to meet you. She'll either show up or she won't.

Either way, you look like a man instead of a scared little boy.

I would do it but only the map. Its only going to take you 2-3 minutes of effort to draw a map on some crumpled up piece of paper and the results should be good. Minimum effort for maximum results. The compass and CD are waaaay overkill.
