Messenger/Laptop Bags for school

Here is one I just got for college. The strap looks thinner than it is from the picture. It's gonna look nice once it has been broken in. Do any of your guys have a laptop/messenger bag? I'm wondering if I should still get the laptop sleeve, or if it's not even necessary since the bag already has some padding for the laptop?

I recently got me one of these, quality is a lot better than expected. No padding needed, but you still have to watch what you do with your bag.
