I think it demonstrates that men will hit on a girl they are not even attracted to because they (maybe falsely) think they have a better chance with her. And further these men will rationalize that a more attractive women isn't attractive.

In other words, even less attractive women have plenty of options and can be very picky.

But none of this means that hitting on a girl that is more attractive will increase your chances. First, attractive women are rarer and even if hit on less, they're hit on by more guys than they can use. And these guys tend to be better looking and more confident. So more attractive women can be just as picky or pickier.

Bottom line is that less attractive women are going to select the "best" guy they have to choose from, and attractive women are going to select from an ever higher strata of guys.

In other words the best looking guys will get all the hot woman and msot of the lesser hot women. Nothing really new.

"The comment about men messaging the sexy pic is pretty true. I used to put up that type of pic and had fun with all the responses. As I have matured a bit I realize that I am not interested in someone drooling over me…unless it is because they also think that I am funny and smart."

I found the above in the comments. It is one of the many reasons online dating is a waste of time. AW much? She's not alone. They only stop being AW's when nobody wants them anymore. So it is lose-lose.

1. Women get too many messages, and men get too few replies.:(

2. Women online tend to go for the hottest guy they can find, and won't play hard to get with him because they know that he can find a better catch a thumbnail away. :eek:

3. A man's online dating profile is only as strong as his worst picture.

4. A man's confidence, profile, personality, writing skills, and savoir faire won't make him or his pictures suddenly look sexy.

Case closed. Nothing new here.
