i have a career of 15 years in different schools so trust me
Your age says you're 23. Eight is a little young to be a trained killer.
I don't disagree with a lot of what you said, but there is such a thing as knowing how to fight. And if you do, then environment typically does not dictate. It's not like a kung-fu movie where one guy fights twenty at a time, but at the same time, mma fighters tend to not get beaten up in bars just because they're in a bar and not a padded cage.
fwiw, although like any blunt object they hurt when you don't see them coming, baseball bats actually make crappy hand-to-hand weapons, unless the wielder has been trained in stick fighting. Not that it would ever happen, but using a bat with skill would be holding it in the middle and making short jabs to transition to a joint lock. No one knows how to do that, so they just swing like a caveman, miss once, and then the weapon becomes useless as the other guy closes range.
If you must carry a ball bat in your car, be smart and also keep an old baseball glove and baseball with it. That makes it a toy and not something you plan to use as a weapon. It's the same with golf clubs. Don't carry just one club, make it look like you were on your way to play golf. A state trooper gave me that advice.
Knives are different in that, at least with a quality knife, an unskilled person can severely injure or kill someone fairly easily. Realistic training with knives is rare. No one can call themselves a "knife fighter" and not be covered with scars, because getting cut is inherent. Training is largely defensive, slash and move, wait it out until the other guy bleeds out. However, since
carrying a knife will get you put in jail, the best training is to learn how to defend yourself against a knife when you are unarmed. It is of course nearly impossible to do that without getting cut, but the idea is to not get killed.
