Gyno is not necessarily genetic and is actually a developement of abnormally large mammary glands. And, unlike what you think, they can even cause the secretion of milk, just like on a woman's tits; if the prostitute you pay lets you suck on her breasts, milk won't come out.
Dropping body fat will cause gynecomastia (gyno) to fade but it will not go away on its own. The actual mammary glands will stay there and cause puffy nipples, at least.
While it is possible that it can go away on its own if treated early enough (ie if the cause is removed early on), generally only surgery will actually work. Compression garment are a temporary solution at best.
Man boobs and gynecomastia are two completely different problems. Man boobs are body fat in the chest area and affect fat guys; gyno is the enlargement of mammary glands and can affect anyone, even bodybuilders.
