The reason women do this when they are in a relationship is because they are not getting the attention they need from their boyfriend. So in essence by her receiving the attention from other men, she's able to stay in her current, unfulfilling relationship.

I'd like to add that it's impossible to fulfill a woman's every need, insecurity, and hunger; moreover, it's even more impossible to sustain the level of commitment to keep them completely happy. Women are looking for the "Swiss Army Knife" of men, and those men simply don't exist. They will seek out other men to fill in their mysterious voids throughout life.
