"So, What Do You Do for Fun?"

She asks it casually, mid-sip. And you feel the floor open up, because the honest answer is work, gym, and a couple shows you're half-watching.

Women rarely say this out loud, but a man with a life is attractive before he says a word. The guy who spent Saturday deep-sea fishing and came back with photos and a story — he walks in already interesting.

The "22 Rules" pushed me to build a life worth talking about. Turns out the fastest way to be interesting to women is to be interested in your own life first.

Making an Effective Post

In my relatively short time posting here (though I’ve been lurking for a while), I’ve seen good posts, excellent posts, mediocre posts and downright bad posts. So, in my usual patronizing and pedantic style, I offer to you, free of charge:

Earthshyne’s Guide to Effective Posting
  1. Search, search, search: There are tens of thousands of posts on thousands of different topics. Before you start a new thread, do a quick search to see if your questions have already been examined. The fine folks hosting this website actually have to pay for bandwidth usage, and multiple posts on identical topics are bound to get deleted, so save yourself and them some hassle and use the search function. If you’re not sure how to use it, contact a mod or RTFM (Read the Friggin’ Manual);
  2. Spell check: Effective posts are spelled properly. Pretty self explanatory;
  3. Learn the Difference Between “You’re”and “Your”: The contraction “you’re” is simply a shortening of the two words “you” and “are”. The word “your” is possessive; that is, it relates to the ownership of possession of an item or trait that you have. The phrase, “Your nuts” refers to the nuts that are in your possession. The phrase, “You’re nuts” means that you think the person is nuts (“You are nuts”). This is grade 8 grammar, folks. If you haven’t mastered it yet, learn. Otherwise, people will have a hard time taking your writing seriously. Yes, really;
  4. Punctuate: Some thread sentences go on and on and on and on and what was started in the thread has no relation to how the sentence ends so learn where to put commas and periods and colons and semicolons and dashes and other peculiarities of the English language before spending a lot of time writing out stream of consciousness sentences which are good fun and you can learn a lot from them but they are very hard to read even though you know what it means no one else will. Capice?;
  5. Avoid the slammer (exclamation point): Slammers (!) are for comic books. If you must create emphasis, use bolding or italicizing instead. If you’re not sure how, there’s a link at the bottom of the page which shows you how to bold, italicize, underline, etc.;
  6. Humour: What may be a joke or a light-hearted jab at someone in person can easily be misinterpreted online. You don’t have to be deadly earnest in everything you post, of course, but if you’re going to use humour, keep it gentle;
  7. There is no place, including here, for hate: Racial or ethnic slurs say more about the poster than the intended target. Take the hate someplace else, it's not wanted here;
  8. Citing sources: If you are making an argument about something, just saying so does not make it so. Back up your argument, and provide a link if possible. “I wish I was taller, because tall men get more women http://www.findarticles.com/p/articles/mi_m1175/is_3_33/ai_62215068. But I can’t change my height. How does a short guy like me get more success with women?”;
  9. This is NOT the place to discuss suicide or self-harm: If this is an issue for you, call a crisis centre. See your doctor. Other readers and posters (largely, anyway) are not trained to deal with these situations, and your life is too important to trust non-professionals;
  10. Limit your time: This isn’t about posts per se, but it is about the fact that the more time you spend online (or in front of the TV or the video game or whatever) means less time beyond the walls of your place meeting some beautiful, sensual and wonderful women. Just as you won’t get rich thinking about it, you won’t find women if you’re in the house all day.
You're welcome.

"Why Women Dump the Guys Who Try the Hardest"

You paid for dinner. You drove. You said "whatever you want is fine" every single time. All the effort, no expectations.

And she left anyway — probably for a guy who makes her pick up the pizza.

Painful. Also predictable. Her mind quietly concludes that anything requiring zero effort from her is worth exactly zero. You became a free sample, and free samples get taken for granted.

The 22 Rules flip the dynamic. Small shifts that get her investing effort, money, and time in you — until SHE'S the one afraid of losing YOU.

I have an item to add to your list:

11. Always bear in mind that other members are entitled to post as they wish to post. Judgement of whether posting is or is not appropriate lies with the administrator and the moderators. Pontifications about how other members should post or corrections in their grammar and punctuation are not likely to be well recieved because spending time being concerned with such things would serve to undermine the reason we are all here, which is (theoretically) to discuss meeting and attracting women.

YOUR welcome. :)

Very true.

"Nervous Around Beautiful Women? There's a Rule for That"

I could talk to any woman I wasn't attracted to. Charming, funny, relaxed. Then a gorgeous woman looked my way and I'd become a sweating, babbling mess.

The fix took me years to find and ten minutes to learn. Nervousness and excitement are the same physical state — pounding heart, adrenaline, flushed face. Your brain just picks the label. And you can pick a better one.

Rule 16 shows you how. You feel the nerves, relabel them as excitement, and let that energy pour out as enthusiasm. Women notice the guy radiating it. They always do.

I respectfully disagree. (BTW... you spelled "received' wrong. You're welcome.)

Lousy grammar and an uneven, or missing, puntuation style is just a symptom, not a cause in itself. I grant you that this is a posting board and not an English class, but the issue, as I see it, is to help out one another. If one member helps another be a little more specific with their use of language, I think that's all to the good. After all, do chicks dig dummies?

I think the current statistics pertaining to teenage births in America would seem to set forth a resounding "Yes," although it might be that "dumb chicks dig dummies."

Intelligence is a good thing, I would not argue with you on that.

However, what women REALLY find irresistible is a smug little anally retentive dork who can't hold himself back from correcting others on their writing and linguistics every chance he gets. That really gets them goin', stud. :)

"I'm Not Looking for Anything Serious Right Now"

When a woman says it, guys hear a confession. A heads-up. A scheduling conflict.

Here's the translation: I don't feel anything. Right now. With you.

Watch what happens when a man triggers actual attraction. The busy career, the recent breakup, the "not in a place to date" — all of it evaporates instantly. The same woman who was guarding her freedom is suddenly free every night.

The "22 Rules" explain why. When the right switches flip, her timeline rearranges itself around you.
