"The Coffee Shop Girl You Never Spoke To"

You've replayed it a hundred times. She stood three feet away, scrolling her phone. You had an opening. You composed the perfect line — after she was gone.

For all you know, she's married now. To some guy who said something. Anything.

Openers are cheap. Almost any sentence works when it's delivered within three seconds. The expensive part is the standing there, drafting and deleting, while the window quietly closes.

The "22 Rules" stripped out my hesitation. What to open with, how to keep it alive, and the one habit that costs guys more women than anything else: waiting for perfect.

My good friend is single again and is interested in DJing together. Problem is that he's got social and humor side of the game WAY ahead of me, but he's too nervous to pick up chicks in bars alone. We haven't gone out for this purpose just yet but I'm worried how I should behave in competitive situation like that. It would be a great confidense boost for me to have him there but he can outmack me in some areas leaving me with leftovers. Any suggestions?

"You'll Never Feel READY to Walk Over"

Next Monday you'll feel more confident. After the gym you'll feel more confident. After one more drink you'll feel more confident. After you get a better haircut, a better jacket, a better job.

You've been "getting ready" for two years.

She's standing ten feet away right now. She'll be gone in four minutes. No amount of preparation will manufacture the courage that only comes from moving your feet.

Walk over. Stumble through the first sentence. Let it be clumsy. Let it be imperfect. You will feel more alive in those ten seconds than you have all month.

Sure, this is going to happen - but not every time. The only way you're going to get better is by practicing. What better way to do this than with someone you already feel comfortable, someone who's already good at it? Think of it as a learning opportunity - you might get leftovers for a few months, but before too long you're going to be doing just as well as him - making it a real competition at last. Take advantage of the opportunity you have!

Seems to me like this isn't a problem at all. The strengths in your game seem to match the weaknesses in his and vice versa. You need to become strategic about your approaches - not competitive but cooperative. Work off of each other. You can open the women up, he can hit them with the humour, and together you can split the spoils.

work together

First let me say that I doubt very much that your friend has more game then you. If anything his tactics are different from yours and get results in different ways. I have a group of wingmen in my arsenal, good wing men who look out for one another and always offer advice to one another. Each of them has their own style and gets there own results.

Sounds like your friend would be a good wing man candiated and you should go into battle together and see if you can play off him, not against him. Although being competative with someone you know will get you results too and can help you become a better DJ overall, I also find that having a good select of guys who can help you out from time to time can be far far more valuable.

Plus, even though it goes unsaid often or your friend tells you it's okay, if you're always going after the same girls you will put some sort of strain on your relationship and they'll subcontiously help you less down the line if they think there's a chance the two of you may have to compete in the future.
