Great article!
I thought the same thing too. Most weddings seem to exist just to fulfill the female's childhood princess desire. Just look at most of the gifts and presents given to the couple, 99% of them are for the woman. The man is just an accessory.

It's quite true that many women want to have a wedding to compete with their "girlfriends". If they are in a social clique, there is intense pressure to get married and keep up with the Joneses.

However, if they get divorced, no one says anything to them. I would demand all of my money back (plane ticket, gift, etc) because the marriage was obviously a sham and they just wanted attention. Let's face it, women dream about being the center of attention at their wedding. After they actually get married, there's tons of disappointment when they realize they have to be married now.

With Facebook attention wh0ring, you'll now see a bunch more short lived marriages. The high that people get from posting their wedding pictures online and getting likes is as addictive as crack.

The wedding industry is HUGE, and depends on Hollywood and the constant marketing you see at shopping malls and advertisements, TV shows, etc.

I told my mom that I'd never get married earlier, she said - "Well son, you will change when you meet the right girl and fall in love. It's the normal thing what people do. "

Normal.... OK...Yeah right....

I told her: "I'm a free man, and I choose to live my life freely without anyone else having a say in it. If I had a wife I'd loose this."

There's just something about a man in a deep relationship with a women that I just can't put my finger on exactly. It's like you've lost your birth right to live the full and free life you were entitled to. Once she's got you where she wants you, it's all downhill and you've lost that freedom.
