You do realize he didn't defend himself on purpose right? He was a "law abiding 'merican" and rather then commit murder he got the gang to murder him resulting in them looking at life in prison.

It was a seriously alpha ending.

Let's look at some movie alphas played by Clint Eastwood and others - The Man With No Name (Sergio Leone trilogy), Dirty Harry, Cool Hand Luke, John McClane. These men had their own laws to live by. Sometimes they are in tune with governmental laws and sometimes not. WK supplicated.
