I originally wrote this as part of a different thread, but I decided to depersonalize it and make a new, general thread about the subject of men writing posts here as if it's a text message to that girl who's going to flake on you this coming Saturday.

>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>

"The only person who communicated here like a respectable man is F...

All the others look like girls' throw-away text messages with no capitalization, very little punctuation, and no attention paid to spelling and grammar. Men, we are degenerating rapidly, and these text messages prove it.

Let's consider writing with intelligence and with respect for our readers. These girly texts speak volumes of the authors. Just as a handshake speaks volumes about the character of a man, so do his writing habits."

So is this thread for people to post what they were thinking of texting, so that educated DJs can lend a hand? Or just a general note on the subject?

I agree that some of the texts I see on here are awful. ENGLISH, MOTHERF*****, DO YOU SPEAK IT?! comes to mind.

Edit: 42 posts, the meaning of life. I sort of don't want to post again.

No, I mean posts that have nothing to do with actual phone texting.

More and guys here are starting to write their posts as if they are texting. No punctuation, terrible spelling and grammar, the usual contractions, etc.

Example:
"prolly i should txt her back but idk.what do u guys think"

Right, I'm with you now. I do shake my head a little every time I read a post like that, and I imagine the guys who write like that also do so on dating websites or when e-mailing a girl... It probably just sends a pretty moronic vibe.

Agreed 110%

There is a lot of that here, and many of them involve a huge paragraph attempting to describe a situation filled with "Me:" and "Her:".

That's when I hit the back button, sorry, that ʂhit is annoying.

I'd learn to accept it......you will see more and more of it as time goes on.

Society used to dress a lot nicer also, these days folks are much more casual with their dress. It doesn't make either way right or wrong.

Its all about change and the world will keep moving regardless.

Being the poster child for ****ty spelling and grammar, i'm obviously not going to agree with you lol.

You're making a lot of assumptions about people. For instance, I work on the internet. I spend hours putting together 30 page proposals for clients that have to be error free and when I come here, my mind just shuts down that part of my brain that gives a **** about grammar and spelling

You aren't the first and won't be the last person to bring up my grammar issues, but the way I see it, it doesn't bother me. If it doesn't bother me personally I'm not going to change and at the end of the day, that's what it's about. IF something bothers you, change it. If something doesn't bother you , dont' change it. But don't change beucase people/society thinks you shoudl change something. **** society lol. I'm confident enough in my grammar and punctuation when need be to know that I am intelligent enough to put a coherent sentence together when I need to, and to me that's all I care about.

I actually thought this post was about how to communicate with your GF which I thought would have been an excellent topic

I can say the same thing in reverse about guys about other subjects.. most guys wouldn't know how to wear a suit, seriously wear one if their lives dependent on it, though i don't start "how to dress" threads. Most men dress like children today. But if that makes you happy do your thing.

At the end of the day it's about being who you are, for better or for worse. Always striving to be better, but in the areas you think you shoudl be improving in, not what society thinks you should be.

bb, are you heading for another meltdown? What makes you think this post was about YOU? LOL, pretty funny. I guess you meant in a more generic way that my observation fits your writing style, but it sounds like you're reacting.

But now that you brought up YOU, I rarely read your posts because they reveal an extreme sloppiness and I don't like having to work so hard to read what someone has to say. A person can stomp their foot and declare to the world the perceived nobility of "not giving a sh!t" about their grammar and spelling, but the fact is that people do judge a man on that ability, and rightly so.

Communication skills are vitally important in terms of credibility. I can tell you point-blank that you lose a lot of credibility because of your sloppiness. And why shouldn't you? Sloppy writing conveys that you don't give a sh!t about your readership.

I've come across many posts from you that upon scanning seemed pretty good, but I just can't bring myself to struggle and work to get through it with a careful reading.

Why would a man give anything a careful reading when the writer himself did not write with care?
