"So, What Do You Do for Fun?"

She asks it casually, mid-sip. And you feel the floor open up, because the honest answer is work, gym, and a couple shows you're half-watching.

Women rarely say this out loud, but a man with a life is attractive before he says a word. The guy who spent Saturday deep-sea fishing and came back with photos and a story — he walks in already interesting.

The "22 Rules" pushed me to build a life worth talking about. Turns out the fastest way to be interesting to women is to be interested in your own life first.

At my high school, I am infamously eccentric. I wear tin foil as clothing, loudly voice my support for the ideas of Malcolm X (despite being white), rap and argue for fun. I am not a wigger before that comes up; I wear tye-dye and sometimes a fez. I am beyond conventional subculture. I act this way because I hate the town I live in (the locals were cruel to me before I did any of this so I decided that I would act strange to annoy them.) For the last couple of years, I've been spending my school days with a czech immigrant who believes he's the next Nietzche and a Buddhist kid. I was fairly content with the arrangement until I decided to reclaim my heritage by converting to Judaism. My two ex-friends are apparently extreme anti-semites. Now I've decided to assimilate into mainstream culture but I'm not quite sure how to do it. To say the least, I have a reputation. I hate the locals but I think they will treat me better than these two jerks. I also have a crush on a black girl but I'm afraid of coming off patronizing because of my previous black power rhetoric. This is a strange situation and I dont know how to get out of it.

"You'll Never Feel READY to Walk Over"

You've been "getting ready" for two years.

She's standing ten feet away right now. She'll be gone in four minutes. No amount of preparation will manufacture the courage that only comes from moving your feet.

Walk over. Stumble through the first sentence. Let it be clumsy. Let it be imperfect. You will feel more alive in those ten seconds than you have all month.
