she ragged on the kid so hard while she was with me.. does not compute..

I know what you mean mate, my ex broke it off with me saying that she still had feelings for her ex even though he cheated on her, used to beat her and has moved on.

She's currently pursuing him and he doesn't want her, sometimes it's hard to understand what goes through their mind.
