we have always tried to have at least one little thread reminding others to continue to make posts that help others grow, and all awhile congratulating whomever just turned a new page (such as rollo and str8up and joekerr in the past)

this site is honored to have great members, who don't sugar coat life.

how do you find out how many rep points you have? I never knew about reps before...

As of lately, I've had a resurgence of my own, but it will never get me onto the scale so to speak. Hey, it really could be in the negatives if I joined back in 2000 when I first started coming here snoopin' about. No worries, just good advice and stimulating convo to come, I hope.

On a questionably more serious note... The mod team has been keeping this quiet for some time, seeing how it would affect the Reputation system. Here are some changes that were recently made to it:

To date it has worked like this:

Start with 1 point of rep altering power.
Gain 1 point of rep altering power per 365 days as a member.
Must have 50 posts before your rep points count on others.
You get a new dark green dot below your name every 100 points. (100 points = 2 dots)
A new light green dot after that for every 200 points, up to 5 dark and 6 light dots. (1500 points = 11 dots)

The system has been getting used around 300 times a month.

Even after all this time our leaders barely have 100 points. The current top 5 are:

Rollo Tomassi 145
STR8UP 129
joekerr31 124
Interceptor 106
Shezz 106


The new improved system:

Start with 1 point of rep altering power.
Gain 1 point of rep altering power per 73 days as a member.
Gain 1 point of rep altering power per 100 points.
Must have 40 posts before your rep points count on others.
You get a new dark green dot below your name every 100 points. (100 points = 2 dots)
A new light green dot after that for every 200 points, up to 5 dark and 6 light dots. (1500 points = 11 dots)

We are trying to make reputation mean something, to distinguish the quality members from the not-yet-enlightened ones. Please, if you see a thread/post that really clicks with you, send the member rep points. If you see a post that brings down the quality of the board, by all means send negative rep. If we all start doing this, it will be clear to everyone on the board who to listen to and who to take advice from with perhaps a little more than a grain of salt.

Congrats Karma, it seems people really did listen to what you wrote at LS and here in recent days.
