Master Don Juan
So I'm currently working in a job that requires me to do quite a bit of cold calling. My company gets hired out by other companies to get them better sales leads. It's a decent job, definitely not what I want to do for the rest of my life, but it's got me in the area of the country that I want to be in, but that's not what this post is about.
So in my current role, I have to prospect people whom I think our clients would like to talk to, i.e. decision makers at target accounts who have the authority to make the call on whether or not they want to use an outside vendor, get them interested in my client and set up a phone call between them so that they can hash out the details about whether or not they'd like to work together.
Long story short, it can really suck at times. There are times where I catch nothing but sh!t all day. I've had people hang up on me, tell me that I'm terrible at my job, lecture me on how I shouldn't be bothering a person of their "position", etc. etc.
But at the end of the day I've got to hit my quota every month, and I've found a way to do it. Just keep trying.. That's the secret to everything. Effort will always pay off. Always. Sometimes it won't pay off when you think it should, but it always will. every single time. no exceptions.
It's the same thing with dating. Just keep trying. Keep trying to talk to women. Keep trying to improve yourself. Don't ever give up. Some days it truly does feel like you're never going to "get it". You probably think to yourself, "this isn't fair. I've worked so hard to get better with women and I'm still getting nothing. Why is this happening to me?"
Well the short answer is, who knows? Nobody knows why bad things happen to some people while others just seem to have good fortune fall into their lap. But the one CONSTANT, CERTAIN thing you can count on is work ethic. Work Ethic will always reap you some type of benefit. You may be working hard right now for something that will pay off 3-4 maybe 10 years later. Who knows. I do know that if you give up though, it won't ever happen.
Also, take pride in the fact that at least you're trying. At least you're making an effort. In my book, corny I know, that's all that matters. Be the guy who always keeps trying, who always gets back up, who always is ready for another battle. Not only will people respect you more and you'll feel better about yourself, but you'll start to win small battles and gain more confidence.
That's something the world is sorely lacking. Someone with work ethic and a little back bone. Be that guy. The Universe and all it's karma will eventually throw you a bone. So for example in my job I make sure that I make at least 100 calls a day and I also make sure that out of the 100 calls I make, they're all calls to my prospect's DIRECT line. No admin assistant's, no switchboards. Think of talking to women the same way. Are you consistently hitting your quota? I.e. i'm going to talking to 1 girl a day or 5 a week, or 20 a month, whatever. Just focus on hitting your numbers, not the outcome and the rest will take care of it's self.
