They say it was a barber, Aaron Kosminski.
 

What happens, IN HER MIND, is that she comes to see you as WORTHLESS simply because she hasn't had to INVEST anything in you in order to get you or to keep you.

He sounds like a likely candidate. But I heard that the guy who is making this claim is a little suspect himself, and has not released the information so it could be verified, he's just making a claim. I don't remember all the details, but IIRC he had been involved in something sketchy before which didn't turn out to be true. Maybe someone else knows more about it. But Kosminski sounds like he had as good a chance of being the Ripper as anyone.
