"She Liked You in March. It's October Now."

Attraction runs on a clock.

She flirted for weeks. Touched your arm. Found reasons to be alone with you. And you were careful. Respectful. Waiting for the right moment.

The moment had a shelf life. It expired around month two, and by the time you asked her out, she'd quietly filed you under "little brother."

One of the hardest lessons inside the 22 Rules: women rarely wait. Interest either grows or it decays, and nothing decays it faster than a man who never moves.

Make the move while she's still inventing reasons to be near you.

OK, first off I'd like to say I am new, but occasionally view this forum from time to time, just haven't actually posted.

So here's my little story...which incidentally has a long read, sorry.

There's this girl, she was my grade date (were both 18) and I've known her most of my life so its not like we've just met each other; no super thick ice needs to be broken. Its just that we never actually hung out but have known each other for so long and had that mutual "school friendship".

After grad, I stopped talking to her over summer break and just lived my life. However, once September came around and I went to University and so did she (different Unis), I started thinking about her differently, and BAAAM, I felt like I should see if she's datable!

So we reconnect, I starting texting her a lot (Most convos started by ME- Yes, that means clingy!), she finds me VERY funny and she enjoys talking with me for hours via text.

So I ( yes, ME) ask to hang out (not date), at her place, we watch the James Bond movies at her place and enjoy some time together (with her sister....and dad watching with us..) Of course it wasn't what I expected but I still enjoyed myself and felt like I had gotten that much closer to her now that we were at least in each others physical presence...

The next week or two go by and the texts get better and better. I learned a new word in her language (she doesn't speak it but parents do). It's a sexual word and I use it as an advantage to start talking sexually with her to make myself sound less boring or "friend-material". I know it goes well because she felt comfortable talking a little sexual back and didn't just quickly jump to another topic.

So here's what I start doing;

I begin to ask her to hang out with me at places OTHER THAN HER HOUSE, for example here is a text convo we had:

Me: (This is near the end of our text convo) "You know, there's a 10:20 showing for Skyfall tonight. Lets go see it. Or is that past your bedtime?"

Her: "Haha, thanks for much for offering! But I'm really going to try finishing this essay, its due Monday"

(Its FRIDAY FREAKING NIGHT...she doesn't have school Sat or Sun!)

Me: "NP...just thought I'd throw it out there." <--- is that weak?

This is not the first time she has turned me down, I asked to hang out at our highschool and visit teachers on Friday (she'd like that), then chill afterwards at Tim Hortons ( for some 1 on 1 ).

She said she was too busy because she had to study for a test and has two pieces to memorize and get together for her recital....

But come on.. its not like we were going to hang out all day..

THE BOTTOM LINE

Anyways, she is always excited to hear from me and talk to me for long periods of time, but I always find myself texting her first and "asking her out".

So the last conversation we had via text I clued to her that I had Friday AND Saturday off, she told me she'd like to "Hang out during winter break" (no school for us whole month) but said NOTHING about the Friday or Saturday...

THIS IS HOW I ENDED THE TEXT CONVO (our most recent)

Me: "Depends on your definition of hang, we might run out of movies to watch in your basement."

Her: "Haha, I don't have a definition of hang but I'm sure we'll figure something out it shouldn't be a problem :p"

Me: "Ok. Shoot me a text sometime later. I'm going to bed."

Her: "Night! Sleep Well."

END

I have chosen to ignore her for a while because I don't think she is as interested as I am. But she has to know Im interested in her for THESE reasons:

1. I handed her flowers at the door because she invited me over for dinner 2nd night with her family

2. My buddy knows I like her and he told a girl she knows to ask about what she thinks about me (apparently she said I "was a cool guy", but this was way before I started hanging out with her)

3. My recent "clingyness"

I have also given up on asking her out because I don't EVER want to come off as needy anymore!

--------------------------------------------------------------------------

When she finally texts me, how should I reply? Should I even reply to her the first time?

I was thinking of telling her I can't talk to her right now because I'm hanging with another girl at the moment. Hopefully this makes her jealous and lets her know she's not the only girl in my life? She knows I don't like having text convos while in the physical presence of others.

It is day 3 of no contact.

SORRY FOR THE LONG READ and I hope it wasn't all confusing and ****.

"She Wants a Man, Not a Boy"

You asked her if she wanted to grab coffee. Then you asked if the time worked. Then you asked if the place was okay. Then you asked if she'd prefer tea.

Four questions. Four chances for her to say no. Four signals that you're terrified of making a decision.

Plan it. Pick the place. Pick the time. Tell her where to meet you. She'll either show up or she won't.

Either way, you look like a man instead of a scared little boy.
