I was talking to a guy who works for the California manufacturer and he says that it will be available in either 2009 or 2010 for about $20k. Can you imagine a drunken college underclassman driving one of those things? :nervous:

Hopefully you're agile enough to avoid it.

This would be more like a fun vehicle, not the thing you get around with. Lots of people have junker cars for going to work, and then their really nice car they go out with. I could see driving this around on weekends as one hell of a time.

It's still probably safer than a motorcycle. Seems like it's easier to drive too. I'd love to have one. 20k is way too high though.

Yes, but it's a different experience. This thing isn't about speed. I agree, though...there's nothing like hitting 140 on a rice rocket.

This reminds me of my father's German Messerschmidt. It was a 3-wheeled car that had two wheels on front and one in the back. It looked like a little helicopter. As a child he used to take me for rides around the neighborhood and I thought I was going to be killed each time since it always felt like it was going to tip over. I'll bet it would be worth a fortune today if he had kept it.

haha, or 160ish the other day, yeah speed is fun.

I am starting to learn that there are different types of speed, though: like straight-line drag, cornering and handling, and top end top speed. The gearing and suspension setups can be very different when trying to maximize one kind of speed over the other. My other speed interest besides bikes has been Chevy V8 engine swaps into Nissan Z cars. If any of you want to go fast for cheap, check out a hybrid Z like this one:

Got one, I think I'm gonna get a GTR-1400 next. I've been riding bikes for 35 years, the thrill isn't gone but the new is surely worn off.

Maybe that's the spec of the older 1200 and they haven't updated their specs to reflect reality? I think the CanAm has a lot better odds of being a trouble free street machine honestly.
