You cant pick and choose freedom. It either exists or it doesnt. Again I say, Russia and China are the sh!tholes they are for many of its citizens because of their human rights records. And Russias treatment of gays is but one example.

You sound like a typical ignorant American who gets his worldview from the CNN: The Most Reliable Name in News . Russia may not have completely recovered after the collapse of the Soviet Union, but it is far more prosperous today than it was in the 1990's, a time when there was a lot more political and personal freedom. Under Putin, the salary of the average Russian increased eightfold. This goes to show that political freedom and economic prosperity are not necessarily related to each other. That's just a fairly tale that the U.S. government wants you to believe as it justifies its wars against "evil dictatorships". If you really think that allowing gays to preach the wonders of sodomy to underage minors will somehow jump start the Russian economy, you are seriously out to lunch.

Also, Russia is not nearly as much of a sh!thole as you make it sound. And I should know because, unlike you, I have actually been there. With the exception of Chechnya, Russia is not nearly as dangerous as many inner city neighbourhoods in the United States. Heck, even Chechnya is probably safer than places like Detroit, Newark and Washington DC. You want to see a real sh*thole? Dirve a few blocks east of Capitol Hill, across the Anacostia River. You will not see anything like that even in Russia.

In the Soviet Union, the government tried to socially engineer the "perfect" Soviet citizen (the kind of man who would accept the official party line without asking questions or challenging authority). By and large, the Soviet experiment has failed. While people were willing to reluctantly do what the government told them under threat of punishment, most Russians understood that the communist propaganda was a bunch of BS. That's because Russian propaganda methods were crude and too obvious. The American propaganda machine is much more refined and effective. Instead of having the government try to brainwash the citizenry directly, the American ruling class outsourced that task to private contractors (i.e. the media, Hollywood, etc.)

These "private contractors" and the government have a congruence of interests. They want men who are weak, pacified and intellectually lazy. Such men are easier to rule, control and make money off. Guys who wear skinny jeans, listen to hip hop/EMO/whiney teenage rock, hang out with gays and pedestalize women are not going to rebel against government corruption. Whatever little angst they may have is going to be channelled towards some lame, fabricated cause like veganism or global warming or gay rights. They will also spend all they have (and then some, courtesy of easy credit) on clothing, electronic trinkets, bars, restaurants and other types of "entertainment".

And yes, plenty of sane straight men promote gay rights. Because as I said before, if you dont promote equal rights for all, youre promoting the taking of rights from all. Tyranny begins when a country starts stomping on the civil liberties of its citizens.

And thats why Russian and Chinese citizens wanna come to the USA, no matter what their sexual orientation. Because at least in America, we dont still have some semblence of liberty left. Itd be hypocritical of me to expect to have human and civil rights, yet advocate the taking away of those same rights from someone else.

However, people like you and a few others who constantly b!tch about America and people losing their rights, dont see the hypocrisy of your anti-gay sentiments. I believe in equal rights for all, not some. Deal with it and stop whining.

And as speed dawg said, America is still the big kid on the block, and will be for a while. Russia fell off years ago. If there were so many jobs and opportunities, Russian women wouldnt be clamoring to still leave the place. Who gives a fvck about English teaching jobs? Any decent country in the world has a bunch of those jobs because english is much of the worlds international language.

I am as big of an American patriotic as anyone but I really can't argue with much in that post. My ancestors would roll over in their grave if they knew the nonsense going on now.

America as your ancestors once knew it is pretty much dead. What you see today is the "cancer patient after intense chemo" walking corpse version of America. Let's face it, the average American is a grossly obese, poorly educated, psychologically brainwashed, over-medicated degenerate addicted to shopping, reality TV, fast food, beer and sports. A country inhabited by people like that has no future.
