That's all you really need to know before even reading this garbage. Newspapers have always needed tons of filler content (which is exactly what this article is) to maintain the necessary quantity of daily "news" and human interest stories.

I remember a time when this kind of article would have bothered me indeed. That's not so much the case these days, because these supposedly fringe articles are a dime a dozen -- and the subjects of these kinds of stories never seem to step into the real world. I'm sure Ms. Padawer is aiming for her Pulitzer, and with articles like this one, she'll probably get it.
