I was reading an article about POTUS candidate Lindsay Graham being a bachelor, and it got me thinking ...

Most anyone who is aware and has seen him speak would come to the conclusion that he sound a bit effeminate - or at least not a "manly man". (Politically, he is virtually the same as his best ally, John McCain, who is a very manly man, with a model-quality {when she was young} wife.)

Anyway, discarding for the moment the idea that he is discretely gay, or feels gay, and has just not acted upon it, etc., and taking him on his word that "things just never worked out" with any women - IOW, a female analogy to Condi Rice, who nobody anywhere even remotely thinks is lesbian - it seems that a man who is a US Senator (and Congressman before that), even one that is not "ruggedly handsome", would have had a fair number of quite decently attractive women over the years who would have quite forthrightly made an undeniable Indication Of Interest (we all know that women who are interested can let this be known) - and as well not acted in a way to lose such a great catch. Now if Graham were like Gerry Clooney, my contention would be meaningless, but it is pretty clear that Graham has not had women around him anywhere remotely like Clooney (although he has been "seen" on dates with a few every once in a while.)

I guess what I am trying to say is that at a certain level of fame, if a man is interested in a romantic relationship, he really doesn't have to life a finger, as women will swarm over him and make sure not to screw up so that they could get married. Contrast that with Gamma males like myself, where decently attractive women making their intents known seem to be few & far between, and always from women who have a screw loose. :nervous:

You gonna sit there and try to tell me that every single woman who had sex with Fidel Castro actually found him attractive? Many did because they likely feared for their lives, but the rest of them wanted to have sex with him because of who he was, not because he was necessarily sexy. Having power of some kind is a hell of a factor to have when it comes to game, and power on a celebrity or world leader level is something most of us could never hope to achieve or understand. But I still respect it and the men who wield it.

I think there's a very basic level of desire and behavior required for any world level alpha male to get laid like Clooney, or Castro or whoever.

For most of those guys, this may be nothing more than flirty eye contact, and some kind of head motion (in here babe, and I'll nail you).

Believe it or not, some guys aren't gay but also don't really "click" with women enough to hook up.

It could be this guy was so utterly beta, and dealing with women was so utterly confusing and emotionally devastating, AND he never really got much out of relationships anyhow, he just gave them up in order to focus on his political career.

MatureDJ's point is valid. This is something guys will never "get" since attraction works on guys differently than it works on girls.

For women, power (of which wealth is an EFFECT, not a cause) is the ULTIMATE aphrodisiac, and it operates wholly subconsciously.

(this is why, as an aside, wealth without power is not attractive, it only attracts gold diggers, but POWER doesn't need wealth to cause attraction)

When a girl looks at a powerful guy, it's like in Shallow Hal when he looked at fuglies and thought they were super hot.

They actually feel RAW instinctive, irresistible attraction on a gut level, REGARDLESS of what he looks like.

(Of course gym rats who think six pack abs are the answer will disagree).

There are countless male celebrities, very well known, with money and POWER, that women DO NOT lust after.

I don't believe there is ever one individual aspect that makes a quantity of women like a guy, it's always a combination of aspects including his Looks, Money and Personality.

When you are over 7 in each of these categories, you aren't going to have an issue getting women, no matter if you have Power or not. If your Looks are a 3 or 4, Personality is a 3 or 4, and Money is a 8, the Money ALONE is not going to make up for the low numbers in the other categories.

If you are a 3 or 4 in Looks, there should be something that you can do to get to at least a damn 5. Every man can get his Personality to at least a 6 or 7, and this country affords enough opportunities to get your Money to at least a 6 or 7. What I'm saying is that with quality self-improvement, every guy should be able to be a solid "6" which will allow him to attract women as high as an 8, but on average those from 5 - 7.

Note now that when I talk about Personality, there's a different Personality you have to develop specifically in relation to Women that's a little different than when dealing with the "general" Population.
