Same exact thing happened to me. Met her Saturday, and going out Wed. We didn't kiss yet but that would have been better. However, we did establish romance right away. Always let your romantic interest be known as soon as possible. This avoids the "Oh I thought we were friends" rejection that often happens otherwise.
Here was what I did with the new digits:
1) Day 0 (Day you meet) - there is no longer a 2 day rule when you get the digits (unless you want to be forgotten). Send a text shortly after saying goodnight when you get their number, and always sign it and always use her name (that way you both remember each other). Something simple enough, romantic, and which captures the moment she had with you.
2) Day 1 - hoped to get a single reply (in my case I did not and I actually was ready to write her off - this happens a lot. I send exactly one text and if they don't respond, I will ignore them (in person if applicable) unless they go out of their way to talk to me).
3) Day 2 (morning) - That evening I realized she texted that morning. It's not uncommon for the girl to wait up to 48 hours after your first text to reply. After that, it is unlikely she ever will. I replied 6 hours later, but did not delay on purpose.
4) Day 2 (evening) - Later we had a good text conversation and then she actually initiated a phone call. This is what girls with high interest seem to do. I never call them, but I always call them back if they ring me (preferably from a land line - it is more personal). Early on, be willing to invest time getting to know them. This is the most fun part of dating IMO. While I tried to keep the call short and end it early, she spoke for nearly a half hour and I didn't stop her. Generally you want to minimize phone calls, but the first call can last longer IMO, as long as she initiates it. Likewise, there is no limit to the number of texts the first time you connect. I've seen girls send over 100 and I sent 90 replies.
5) Day 3 - I did not text her all day. This is where they test you I believe. They are afraid you might become "clingy, over-texting guy". They HATE clingy guys. For that reason, always be erring on the side of not texting back, trying to let her send the last text, and ending the conversation when it's still fun. That said, at 10pm she sent a note asking if we were still on for the next day, so I replied immediately and said yes.
6) Day 4 - (Day of date) - This is a tough one. I like to check their interest level and not write to them, and make sure they write. However, if you made plans, it never hurts to send one last text (just in case - messages get missed much more than emails) to say "Ready when you are" or something to that effect, but never "Are we still going?" which suggests doubt. If neither of you writes the day of the date, she might apologize, she might be missing you, and she might be very angry, I've seen all 3 happen. Absolutely never send an angry text about her doing anything wrong, ever. You have too many other women, remember?
7) Day 5 (Day after date) - In the old days, the man ALWAYS called after to see if she made it home ok. If he didn't, she would be upset. If they had sex and he didn't call after, she would have a meltdown and it was over forever. Nowadays it is the opposite. If the girl had fun she will send you a thank-you text. Even if you had sex, don't text her the next day. If she does not send a thank-you text, do not reply again, but don't be angry. Just be neutral. Then if she writes later you can proceed, but do not initiate again with a girl who did not herself initiate to thank you in some form (hand-written is best, phone call second, email third, text fourth, FB fifth). It's really simple - no thank you means literally that - they don't want to see you again. If she does thank you, say you're welcome but don't initiate right away... she likely will.
Good luck!
