Ignoring works on crazy obsessive women. They will totally lose their minds over you if they want you to begin with and you don't give yourself to them. However, if you know what's good for you then you'll make sure to use any means of escaping these women. They're crazy and will absolutely destroy you if given the chance.
Other than for those women it's balance which is the best way. Not too much or too little attention. Don't be pushy, respect their space and always gauge their interest level. If it goes down you pull away a little, if it goes up then you can essentially escalate to the point where it goes down and then pull back a little. You don't have to and shouldn't find this balance blind, you find it by reading the responses of the specific girl. It's really not that hard, just many guys don't get this concept.
